Disappointing news for solo Gawn prospects
Versatile key forward Luke Jackson has all but recovered from finger surgery but vice-captain Jack Viney faces more weeks on the sidelines, as Melbourne deal with a selection squeeze.

Coach Simon Goodwin said after training on Wednesday that Jackson, who had surgery on a broken finger earlier this month, was all but certain to be fit for selection to face the Crows in Adelaide on Saturday.

I think they'll run with Weid and Brown again to see how they go, giving Jackson one more week out.

Gawn scored perfectly fine with Jackson in the side earlier in the season. Sharing the responsibility means he won't get so tired. He looked wrecked against the Blues

I hope they don't decide to 'manage' big Maxxy anytime soon, they can afford to though that's for sure

Bye coming up and then a bye before finals, so we should be OK. But you never know... Later in the season seems like a higher chance

Jackson playing really doesn't have that big an impact on Gawn's scoring, he's just out of form.
I actually think Jackson will come back in tbh, he is an incredibly important player for us as he allows us to plonk max wherever we need him to mark the ball. Don't be too surprised to see a land of the giants forward line against the crom. Tmac, Weed, BBB, Jackson, Fritsch, Gawn and Petracca rotating forward.

Max was on Triple M last week and they asked him about a rest. He said he didn't want to and with Jackson in he didn't need one. Hopefully that was true, cause he looked a bit wore out vs Carlton.

He just needs a beard trim, getting too heavy for his chicken legs.
