Apparantly you have a few blokes coming back?
I'm a little bemused how Knobel can be back so soon... I doubt he'll play. Hamill is 50/50 apparanlty and will kill us if he plays.

He might be the difference.

Quick return to action for Knobel

In a significant boost for St. Kilda, ruckman Trent Knobel looks set to make his return to league football only three weeks after suffering what looked like a season-ending neck injury.

The ruckman suffered a bad concussion after landing heavily in the centre square of Telstra Dome against the Lions in round 11 and was taken off on a stretcher.

It was initially feared Knobel, who wore a brace around his neck to protect a damaged number one vertebra, would miss up to 12 weeks.

But coach Grant Thomas indicated that Knobel had received a tick of approval from doctors, adding there was ‘zero’ risk medically if he were selected to play against Melbourne this weekend.

Knobel trained with the main group for most of the session on Wednesday but did leave the track early.

“He feels he’s ready, he’s basically had medical clearance. He’s just going to see the specialist again today for a second time this week to clean it all up.”

“He’s always felt right, it’s just that the medical side of it that’s had to be cleared before we’ve allowed him to do anything.”

In contrast to the imminent return of Knobel, the Saints will probably not have the services of skipper Aaron Hamill on Saturday.

Hamill wore a protective boot for the around two weeks before having it removed two days ago. The skipper was troubled by small muscle tears in his foot, sustained in against Collingwood in round nine.

He missed the club’s loss to Port Adelaide in Launceston, but did some light training on Tuesday and participated with the main group Wednesday morning.

On his chances this weekend, Thomas said: “I would think he’d be less than 50%. I can’t be any more honest than that and we won’t push the envelope with him.”

“I would think he’s pretty doubtful but knowing how he is he’ll make every attempt to con and persuade everyone person known to man to ensure that he gets there.”

“Aaron’s probably not looking as strong as we had hoped. He will know more later on today but he’s looking a bit doubtful.”

On other selection news, Thomas thought there would be potentially ‘five to six’ players available against the Demons, saying Justin Koschitzke, Max Hudghton, Andrew Thompson and Luke Ball were ‘okay’.
