It's really only been since Ling retired that Mitchell has gotten off the chain against the Cats.

Former players that used to kill Geelong were Shane Crawford and Shane Woewodin.

Akermanis loved us too until he met David Johnson. No coincidence that he played his unbelievable Gabba game against us when DJ was out injured.

Mitchell actually averaged just under 31 possessions against Geelong in Lings last three seasons.

Ling used to alternate between Hodge and Mitchell. Whichever one he wasn't on invariably got loose, it wasn't unusual for him to be switched mid game to quell the other. (Perhaps they should have put him on Hodgey in '08 ☺️)

Jason Davenport. Kicked four final quarter goals in 2010, Port win by one point. He was a big reason why we won the spoon that year.
Also kicked a bag of 3 against us on another occasion to almost win the game.
28 games for his career, 29 goals, 10 of them against west coast.

EDIT: i see this has already been mentioned multiple times. Guess i'm not the only one who remembers being killed by this guy.

Yeah that was Round 2, 2011. Davenport came on as the sub, and only had 4 touches......3 of them resulted in goals to him.

I was actually a fan of J-Dav, bit sad when we de-listed him.

Anyone who has played in the midfield or on a flank for Collingwood over the last decade. Alan Didak, Steele Sidebottom, Dale Thomas, Leon Davis, Dane Swan, Dayne Beams, Scott Pendlebury. Take your ****ing pick.

Ablett between about 2007 and his move to Gold Coast seemed to have 35 touches, 2-3 goals and 3 Brownlow votes every time he played us too.

Always some random spud from Carlton who normally can't get a kick and who even Carlton supporters want dropped (until they play us).

Duigan in the final
Mclean sometimes
Casboult somehow

Waite always kills Richmond, have no idea why. He doesn't kick huge bags but seems to take 20 odd marks and give 15 goal assists. It sucks because it gets our hopes up he can do that every week.

Aaron Joseph saved his best for Cyril Rioli - don't think Cyril ever got into double figures with Joseph playing on him.
Trent Sporn's games on James Hird were the stuff of legend in the early 2000s. Would dominate Hird, smash his shoulder or collarbone, come back just in time for the next Essendon game.

Ty Vickery always turns up against Carlton, then does nothing for a month.
Aaron Sandilands always smashes whatever ruckman we put out there, sometimes on one leg.
Lindsay Thomas....eughhhh....

Jordan Lewis and Brad Sewell smash us physically every time as well.

The usual Geelong suspects, Selwood, Bartel, Stevie J, Enight, Taylor etc,etc...

A couple of old Kangaroos in C Jones and Pratt would have been superstars had they played against Hawthorn for a living. Ditto Fraser Gehrig when at the Eagles.
