Any young kid who is any good doesnt need the interleague environment to show case his skills as most VFL/TAC sides would already have an eye on them. Surely interleague is played for the pride of your region and to smash you over rated leagues up North East.

Go Ballarat

Has anyone got any ideas on finding out who's in the interleague squads? I'm particularly interested in BFL and O&M?

Ballarat FL Squad has Field, Edwards, The Jordan Brothers, Keenan Reynolds, Cape, McCabe, Half of Sunbury FC, Fisher, Larsen, and a few others. No real big names but plenty of spirit. Boys are keen to do well

The O and M final squad is out on Tuesday, but will be strong.
Huge advantage for the host league in this far from ideal format.

From The Ballarat Courier:

Selection of BFL training squad poor, says coach
Monday, 17 April 2006

MELTON premiership coach Ron Thomas has accused inter-league coach Peter Freeman of favouring Sunbury players in the selection of the Ballarat Football League squad.
Thomas said the selection process for the league's training squad had been poor and biased.

Freeman, who coached Sunbury to the 2004 premiership, has dismissed the claims.

Freeman has picked 12 Sunbury players in the 52-member training squad, compared to four from Melton, two from Lake Wendouree, and one from Melton South and Bacchus Marsh.

"I want to know how the choices have been made when some clubs have so many and others have so few," Thomas said.

"I hope (Freeman) is not playing favourites, but I think he is. And I hope the league is not turning its back on the local boys who would be proud to represent it."

Freeman and the RegionalOne BFL had asked each coach to submit a list of six players to try out for the squad.

The Bloods nominated nine players, but only Dane Grenfell, Jarrod Edwards, Stuart Vimpany and Brendan Porter made the grade.

The inter-league selectors had told clubs they would visit their practice matches.

"Clubs were asked to give the league a list of its practice games, with the venues and dates," Thomas said.

"We played five practice matches and, to my knowledge, not one selector even showed up."

Freeman said he was more than happy with the selection process.

He said his three-man selection panel - of East Point coach Shane Fisher, BFL operations manager Tim Beacham and Tim Smales - had picked the best squad.

Ballarat will tackle Goulburn Valley, West Gippsland Latrobe, and Ovens and Murray in division one of the Victorian Country Football League at Albury-Wodonga on May 13-14.

"We've seen enough games to be happy with what we've picked," Freeman said.

"There's no ruling that we must have a certain number of players from each club."

Freeman said Sunbury deserved to have more players picked than any other club.

Ballarat squad originally had 49 players named to it and two more have been added. Easier to list who isn't in? :p

Grimmett, do the squads get published anywhere? I'm interested to know both BFL and O&M.

Also, when do the final teams get named?

Ballarat squad was published in the Ballarat Courier but not uploaded to the paper's website. Can't see it on the league website so you might be out of luck there cos I don't think I've got the papers from back then now.
Tried the OMFL site for theirs?
