Yes I have had this book on hold for awhile
Can highly recommend the audiobook of the Forever War, read by Nick himself, if you're time poor or have too many books sitting on the shelf unread - he's a great orator and it fills the time on those tedious hours in the car or waiting rooms.

His other book 'When America Stopped Being Great' is a precursor to 'The Forever War' with each chapter explaining how the previous presidencies of both Democrat AND Republican administrations (especially post Carter) laid the binary foundations for the rise of Trump and his now unprecedented unfettered control over the US people having control of Congress and The Supreme Court.

He makes the point over and over again that previous Democrat Presidents and the establishment Democrat Party itself has been complicit in this - which was the point I tried to make but failed in my post linking Samaras comment.

Yes I enjoy audiobooks. Am listening to something else at the moment then will get onto the Forever War.
These two were interesting. Sarah’s book a bit depressing actually but a very good book.

Just had this pop up…..

Sent from my iPhone using BigFooty.com

I’ve seen people posting this in 100% seriousness — including Elon himself.

The next 4-5 years are gonna be something.

This thread is going to lurch from Hysteria, Hyperbole, Pant Pissing, Hilarity, Tears and unfortunately the usual idiot posting dumb arse crap from X (owned by Elon, oh the ironing). Might make bigfooty a bit more fun again.

It’s the general hypocrisy that rankles.

• “We’ll lower prices” (by reimplementing tariffs and fuelling a fresh trade war with China that previously decimated huge swaths of Western agricultural industries which needed billions in subsidies to prevent going under);

• “We’ll end DEI” (while appointing a murderer’s row of unqualified grifters, chucklef—ks and family members to the highest levers of power);

• “Drug dealers should be executed” (immediately pardons The Silk Road guy whose dark web platform facilitated countless drug deals including the boogeyman du jour, Fentanyl, purely because it plays well with the Bitcoin bros);

• “We’ll back the blue and be even tougher on violent crime against our brave police officers!” (only applies to cops pulling over black guys, and not cops defending the capital building from seditionists);

• “Something something free speech!” (as Elon deems a word like ‘cis’ a ‘slur’ on Twitter, and ‘#democrats’ was recently erased from search on Meta by ‘accident’);

If you’re a conservative who thinks ‘lefty tears’ are the fountain of life, cool, but the naked hypocrisy of pretty much everything pushed by the American right is crystal clear.

I mean people have already gone on tracking down the videos for those still images.

It could be interesting to see what happens to the democracy rating of the US with the orange clown and his on the spectrum mate `Elmo' calling the shots.

Due to their own propaganda many septic tanks have the mistaken belief they are living in the greatest democracy in the world, but nothing could be further from the truth with their current ranking at 16 and well behind the top 5, which are the Scandinavian countries and Switzerland, with the Netherlands, New Zealand, Germany, Ireland and Australia rounding out the top 10.

Another twitter post that will upset the usual suspects. Valid points and facts are made - many of them debatable in terms of relevance and priority - but that should be the point.

The ‘usual suspects’ = Pelosi and the other baffled apparatchiks at the DNC?

Nah- I was thinking more specific to BF. But really, anyone who values superficial rhetoric over substance, which is all of us at least at one time or another.

IMO Sanders point about looking beyond the rhetorical nonsense of Trump and his cronies is a good one because it goes to the essence of the pea and thimble trick confidence trick politicking that has made Trump such a successful tycoon and politician.

It's literally no different from the suggestion of illumanati Satan worship evidence by referencing hand gestures.

How do you even get to this rationale is what i am interested in?

It’s going to be a hoot when Musk and Trump fall out, that’s for sure.

I don’t want to speak ill of the near dead but Joe Biden finally kicking it is going to generate some content too.

Of course. He is a con man, a snake oil salesman, similar to the grifting Evangelical pastors who grift and grift from their flock with all end of Biblical threats and promises. The formula works, especially in America. The book Fantasyland, recommended to me by a BF poster, lays it all out perfectly, from America’s inception.
It’s a shame we have similar gullible types here in AUstralia.

Within hours of his inauguration Donald Trump-
  • Threatened tariffs on Europe unless it increases purchases of American oil.
  • Planned to sign a memo directing federal agencies to investigate US trade deficits and unfair trade practices.

Therein lies the hypocrisy of Donald J Trump. He investigates what he believes to be unfair trade practices against the US yet threatens to increase tariffs if the world does not buy US oil.
