Ok, interesting the Senate races in the key Senate seats up for grabs at the moment.

Perhaps what will end up happening is Trump wins the Presidency but doesn’t win the House and only has a one seat margin in the Senate.

Remember the demographics of the US do favour the Democrats (the have only lost the popular vote once in 32 years) and lets not forget that in 2022 midterms the pundits were predicting a red wave - it didn’t happen.

The voters might have a bet each way and restrict the dominance of Trump.

Trump is just getting a quick boost in the polls because of the disinformation about the shooting. In time as it settles down and it gets into the nitty gritty of the election, I am not sure he can hold up anyway.

Which is why the GOP is trying to suppress the vote in most states

I think the philosophy 'you get what you deserve' applies to this election. While I will be disappointed if Donald somehow manages to win the election im not going to rant and rave I am just going to accept it with morbid curiosity. Will those who were laughed at by republicans for their anti Donald rhetoric get the 'I told you so' moment or will he actually be a good president. He wasnt last time, its hard to see how he could be a good one this time.

I am still convinced we are just seeing a loud minority, the electoral college however can ensure a minority can win.

Nah, the head Dems now want Biden gone, that tells you all you need to know, they ain't winning with Biden unless Trump was to make a colossal **** up....

Joe Biden urged to withdraw by key Democrat Chuck Schumer

Chuck Schumer – the Democratic leader in the Senate, is said to have had a “blunt one-on-one conversation” with Joe Biden.

A Covid-stricken Joe Biden said he would quit the election race if his doctor suggested he should, amid a rapidly intensifying effort from top Democratic leaders to force him out.
The US President was also “being receptive” in private talks about his flailing candidacy, a marked shift from his defiant claim that only the “Lord Almighty” could make him abandon his re-election effort against Donald Trump.
While the internal rebellion against the 81-year-old abated in the wake of the assassination attempt against Donald Trump, it reignited on Wednesday (local time) just as Mr Biden was forced off the campaign trail with Covid.
In an interview, Mr Biden was asked if anything would force him to reconsider his candidacy.
“If I had some medical condition that emerged, if somebody, if doctors came to me and said, you got this problem and that problem,” he replied.

The oldest president in history was then hit by a wave of leaks about his talks with the party’s top leaders, including Democratic Senate leader Chuck Schumer, who reportedly met him at his Delaware home last weekend for a “blunt one-on-one conversation”.
He “forcefully made the case that it would be best if Biden bowed out of the race”, according to the explosive ABC report. Senator Schumer’s spokesman would only say that he “conveyed the views of his caucus” to the President, calling the story “idle speculation”.
The Washington Post also reported that Senator Schumer and Democratic House leader Hakeem Jeffries both told Mr Biden that his continued candidacy imperilled the party’s chances of winning back the House or hanging on to the Senate after November’s election.

I 100% agree with you. Biden needs to step down.

What I think has happened is that he has become so head strong with all the talk of whether he has his faculties and whether he has dementia he has forgotten to examine his overall mortality risk. Only 16% of all males make it to 90. For him to be elected president again we are asking him to not only live until 86 which is 50/50 at best but be able to do it with all the energy of someone half his age.

What is kind of hypocritical and the republicans haven't seen it yet is that although Trump is the younger candidate, he is only 4 years younger than Biden. But he is not physically fit, doesnt take care of himself, has shown the exact signs Biden did 4 years ago with his mental faculties. Trump too is showing signs that for him to last his presidency he is only 50/50.

Unfortunately, the american people will get what they deserve. In this case, both VPs have an astonishingly high chance of being president by the end of the next presidential cycle. And then we will have riots as people will say we didnt vote for them, bluh bluh bluh. Both Biden and Trump should step down no question. If they truly didnt want the USA to look like fools, neither should contest the election. The world is only going to collectively laugh at the USA if the POTUS is unable to fulfill the term.

In Trumps case - not sure how that is going to make america great again.

Trump has funneled millions from the republicans for his legal bills. Trump is effectively broke.

Van Jones: ‘A bullet couldn’t stop Trump, a virus just stopped Biden’

b3b591aee8f4619ada825b607144209c

Democratic strategist Van Jones argued Wednesday was a “terrible day” for Democrats following President Biden’s COVID-19 diagnosis, arguing his response contrasted that of former President Trump, who faced an attempted assassination on Saturday.
“Today is a terrible day. If you pull back and look at this thing, strength versus weakness, a bullet couldn’t stop Trump. A virus just stopped Biden,” Jones said Wednesday night on CNN.
“You’ve got nominees of this party getting their butts kissed. Biden’s getting his butt kicked by his own party. The Democrats are coming apart. The Republicans are coming together. That’s what’s happening. And at some point, this party has to look at the reality of that,” he added.
Biden tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday, marking the third time in the past two years the president has tested positive for the virus.
The White House on Wednesday said Biden was “experiencing mild symptoms” and would return to Delaware to self-isolate and “carry out all of his duties fully during that time.” He received his first dose of Paxlovid, an antiviral therapy produced by Pfizer.
Shortly after the announcement was made, Biden was seen boarding Air Force One to head back to Delaware for self-isolation. He told reporters he felt “good.”
It follows a tumultuous few weeks for Biden, whose disastrous debate performance last month sparked concerns from some within the Democratic Party over his ability to beat Trump in November and carry out a second term. It further surfaced the growing worries over Biden’s mental acuity and age.
At 81, Biden is the oldest sitting U.S. president. He has faced repeated criticism, especially from Republicans, that he is perceived as weak by voters and global leaders.
Biden has rejected calls to withdraw from the race, maintaining he can defeat Trump in the election.
The diagnosis came days after Trump was injured in an attempted assassination at a campaign rally last Saturday. One spectator was killed, and two other attendees were injured.
A day after the shooting, Trump traveled to Milwaukee for this week’s Republican National Conference, where he has appeared with a bandage over his wounded ear, which he said was hit by a bullet during the incident.
Several RNC attendees were seen at the event wearing bandages on their ears in solidarity with the former president.
Trump is slated to deliver remarks at the RNC on Thursday.
The Hill reached out to the White House for comment.
