Didn't they leave that up to Musk and there are reports that they've just "phoned it in" (claiming they've door knocked but actually haven't)?

Yes, canvassers for other candidates have talked about how few of these people they've seen. They're all paid whereas most canvassers for everyone else are volunteers, so you could say they have a different motivation. There are reports the Musk workers have been using location scrambling apps to make it seem like they were working when they weren't.

Which is incredibly funny.

Are better Democrat candidates not putting their hand up because it's Trump? Worried about being embroiled in his circus

Had Biden announced he wasn't going to run after the mid terms as everyone expected, there would have been at least a dozen Democrats wanting to run against Trump.

Leading contenders would have been Whitmer, Shapiro and Newsom.

With the way the US system works, there just wasn't enough time to have a primary process so they were stuck with Harris since she had already been nominated as VP candidate and would therefore be able to immediately inherit Biden's campaign staff, his on the ground operations and most importantly his war chest. No other candidate would have been able to do that so quickly.

You don't think Harris poor performance and public image was the reason Biden stayed on? It's not unreasonable to conclude the democrat party saw the 80m votes and got greedy thinking Biden would get that again.

Ahh the old throw away TDS line. 1. you used it wrong. 2. since when is speculation based on what he literally tried to do last time TDS and wacky.

The only one suffering TDS appears to be you.
Nope you're got TDS real bad bud.

The standards of qualification is of two levels. There is the Trump standards which is incredibly low and then there is everyone else who has to be so perfect.

Here is a list of things that would have disqualified any other candidate in the history of the world. I mean every candidate in the western democratic world. Each one would have seen them resign their candidacy from any office in disgrace.

1. Caught lying.
2. Sexually assaulting one person
3. Raping someone
4. Drug addiction
5. Openly admitting to being a sex predator
6. Walking into changerooms of pre teen and teenage girls getting changed deliberatly to perve on them
7. Hold a boat cruise with teenage girls and 40 odd old men and encouraging the girls with prizes to flirt with the men.
8. Try and overthrow a democratically elected government
9. steal classified documents and talk about them in detail with friends, family and foreign nationals
10. Fly religiously to a renowned pedophile Island where horrific sexual abuse took place
11. Commit insurance fraud
12. Try and over turn a states electoral process by trying to bribe election officials.
13. Give people fake medical advice by telling them to think about injecting bleach
14. Grift people and continually be responsible for failed businesses going broke
15. go bankrupt 6 times
17. be sued for sexual assualt
18. cheat on your marriage
19. Call the military suckers and losers
20. Be racist against minority groups
21. Claim admiration for Hitler and his generals
22. block bills that interfer and create chaos with the processes of government.

There are many many more things I could write but there is no denying that if Harris did just one of these things she would be the labelled the worst person ever and be told to remove her candidacy. Whereas Trump not only did every single thing, but he has literally dont most of them more than once. I have no respect for anyone defending this man.
Nah you haven't got TDS....not much 🤣😂

No, it was clear Biden shouldn't run by the mid terms and most people expected him not to run. I expect he thought he could do better than all the challengers, not just Harris. The US congress is littered with octogenarians who just won't give it up until they die, so this isn't unique to Biden.

She wouldn't have been the front runner in any primary. She wasn't even considered the front runner in the days after the debate when people started talking about who should run instead. It was mostly about expediency.

There's no such thing as TDS. Do you know what it is called? REALITY. And people are just really ****ing tired of his bullshit. There has never been another President in history that has been a bigger moron than he is. Or more divisive. Or a bigger grifter. Selling ****ing bibles and "assassination" sneakers. FMD.

I was actually wondering if it were a pre-planned ploy? Let Trump focus his entire campaign for months on Sleepy Joe, and then once the RNC ended and Trump had announced his running mate (LOL Vance), that's when they made the move. It made it very difficult for Trump to change tack midstream (because he's nothing if not a creature of habit) and they really struggled with how to counter her. For the dems, they had three months to hit the ground running with a campaign team already in place and a candidate that was absolutely qualified to breathe life, energy and hope into a stale campaign. If it wasn't a ploy, it was a very bloody good example of a happy little accident.

Home stretch now….

Douglas last night talking in front of teachers union

Douglas again tonight to meet a group of Republicans that wanted to have a chat

Honestly no idea whatsoever what will happen Tuesday

Can range from getting my ass whipped to a very close race

One thing we can be sure of—I will not romp to victory 😂

man, love your efforts and updates - thank you

On a national basis do you think the betting odds (historically the MOST accurate source of accuracy of an election result only being wrong once in over 100 years in 2016) are truly reflective of the election? I personally dont but can understand how some may see me as biased being a Never-Trumper

Thanks again mate

Wear your Adelaide Crows gear. Tell them you have Nick's game plan. That might swing a few votes your way. ;)

Some of her quotes will certainly go down in history

The amazing Vice President of the United States, Kamala Harris, has made some interesting statements throughout her career in office, but the most memorable are the word salads that catch us off guard. If you get confused about what she said, I do too, so don’t feel bad. Here are 10 quotes from VPOTUS that might make you question her elocution and oratorical ability.

#10. “We must together. Work together. To see where we are. Where we are headed, where we are going and our vision for where we should be. But also see it as a moment to, yes. Together, address the challenges and to work on the opportunities that are presented by this moment.”

An interesting word salad from our Vice President describing us working together. I’m especially interested in the part in which we face the challenges ahead.

#9. “What else do we know about this population, 18 through 24? They are stupid!”

Admittedly, this quote is somewhat out of context, nonetheless, Vice President Kamala Harris can’t have her cake and eat it too, as she still does disrespect young Americans despite relying on their votes.

#8. “With us in government. We campaign with thee plan! Uppercase T uppercase P thee plan! And then the environment is such that we’re expected to defend thee plan!

In a lab in Paris, our Vice president took on faux French accent as she emphasized “thee plan!” I was personally baffled by the accent she formulated out of thin air. Maybe add French to her convoluted heritage?

#7. “Elections matter. And when folks vote, they order what they want — and in this case they got what they asked for. I went off script a little bit.”

At a speech in the White House, to celebrate Joe Biden’s nomination of Ketjanji Brown earlier this year, our Kamala Harris would tell us the importance of elections and the amazing administration that came with the 2020 election.

#6. “I love Hanukkah because it really is about the light, and bringing light where there has been darkness. And there is so much work to be done in the world, to bring light.”

Kamala Harris describes the importance of Hanukkah, the reasons why she loves it, and the purpose. Just remember the purpose is the light.

#5. “So, Ukraine is a country in Europe. It exists next to another country called Russia. Russia is a bigger country. Russia is a powerful country. Russia decided to invade a smaller country called Ukraine. So, basically, that’s wrong, and it goes against everything that we stand for.”

Kamala Harris gives an extraordinary explanation of the current Ukraine conflict between the very large country of Russia which is bullying the small country of Ukraine. Thank you Vice President Harris for the geography lesson.

#4. “But we all watched the television coverage of just yesterday. That’s on top of everything else that we know and don’t know yet, based on what we’ve just been able to see. And because we’ve seen it or not doesn’t mean it hasn’t happened.”

In a press conference with Polish President Andrzej Duda, our Vice President would help us understand what may or may not be happening in Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

#3. “Do not come. Do not come.”

University Democrats most quoted Kamala Harris quote (from my experience), has Kamala Harris telling immigrants from Guatemala to not come to the United States-Mexico border. She seems to have changed her tune a bit.

#2. “The significance of the passage of time, right? The significance of the passage of time. So when you think about it, there is great significance to the passage of time.”

At an event in Sunset, Louisiana, Vice President Harris was giving a speech on affordable internet access and told us about the significance of the passage of time.

#1. “It is time for us to do what we have been doing. And that time is every day. Every day it is time for us to agree that there are things and tools that are available to us to slow this thing down”

My personal favorite quote, the Today show, Craig Melvin interviewed Vice President Harris and asked if the administration will change course in fighting against COVID-19. Her response tells us her real thoughts about the things we should be doing and that time is every day.

ok well at least thanks for getting some output into the thread. a couple of slightly rambling things above i agree - nothing of any significance that she would have been embarrassed about 24 hours later though. some even had disclaimers that they were out of context. In summary, nothing there - esp relative to Trumpy.

here are a small sample of her better quotes from the same source - can you pls show the same respect and provide critique on these ones as I have on her 'worst 10'. Any hope, confidence and belief, positivity and inclusivity in here in your view :)

1. "I'm speaking." — Vice-presidential debate

2. "My mother would look at me and she’d say, 'Kamala, you may be the first to do many things, but make sure you are not the last.' That’s why breaking those barriers is worth it. As much as anything else, it is also to create that path for those who will come after us." — Vice President-Elect acceptance speech

3. "When [my mother] came here from India at the age of 19, she maybe didn't quite imagine this moment. But she believed so deeply, and in America, where a moment like this is possible. And so I'm thinking about her, and about the generations of women, black women, Asian, white, Latina Native American women who throughout our nation's history have paved the way for this moment tonight." — Vice President-Elect acceptance speech

4. "While I may be the first woman in this office, I will not be the last. Because every little girl, watching tonight sees that this is a country of possibilities. And to the children of our country, regardless of your gender. Our country has sent you have a clear message: dream with ambition, lead with conviction and see yourselves in a way that others may not simply because they've never seen it before." — Vice President-Elect acceptance speech

5. "Women who fought and sacrificed so much for equality and liberty and justice for all, including the black women who are often too often overlooked, but so often prove they are the backbone of our democracy." — Medium

7. "I've had a lot of titles over my career, and certainly 'vice president' will be great. But 'Momala' will always be the one that means the most." — Vice President-Elect acceptance speech

8. "America's democracy is not guaranteed. It is only as strong as our willingness to fight for it. To guard it, and never take it for granted and protecting our democracy takes struggle. It takes sacrifice. But there is joy in it. And there is progress. Because we the people have the power to build a better future." — Medium

9. "To everyone keeping up the fight, you are doing something. You are the reason I know we are going to bring our country closer to realizing its great promise." — Medium

10. "Imperfect though we may be, I believe we are a great country."

11. "You marched and organized for equality and justice. For our lives, and for our planet. And then you voted. You delivered a clear message. You chose hope, unity, decency, science and yes, truth."

12. "At every step of the way, I've been guided by the words I spoke from the first time I stood in a courtroom: 'Kamala Harris, For the People.'"

13. "I've fought for children and survivors of sexual assault. I've fought against transnational gangs. I took on the biggest banks and helped take down one of the biggest for-profit colleges. I know a predator when I see one." — Medium

14. "Throughout all of the recent events and the emotional roller coaster our country has been on, we cannot lose hope. And in order to have hope, one must first speak truth." — Cosmopolitan

15. "No longer can some wait on the sidelines, hoping for incremental change. In times like this, silence is complicity." — Cosmopolitan

16. "Our country’s wounds can be healed. We just have to have the political courage to act." — Cosmopolitan

17. "We cannot let up in the fight for equality, fairness, and justice. Even when, if not especially when, it is hard or uncomfortable to talk about." — Cosmopolitan

18. "Together, united, as one country we can be a force for change." — Cosmopolitan

19. "The time for outrage is now. The time for solidarity is now. The time for action is now. The time for change is now." — Cosmopolitan

20. "My parents would bring me to protests strapped tightly in my stroller, and my mother, Shyamala, raised my sister, Maya, and me to believe that it was up to us and every generation of Americans to keep on marching."

21. "[My mother would] tell us ‘Don’t sit around and complain about things; do something.’ So I did something. I devoted my life to making real the words carved in the United States Supreme Court: Equal justice under law."

good potential conspiracy theory.

Mine is that if Trump was truly smart and he - we all could - see Bidens performance (cognitive decline) slipping and Biden having NO HOPE in the election (based on polling even before debates showed he had slipped further). That Trump should have actually gone soft on him in the first debate - or even deliberately let himself slip a little (tanked a little) so it seemed a relatively even debate performance. Them NO WAY would Biden have been moved on by the various influential people who then got involved with public comments inc Cooney leading comments re this and I think was critical.

If Trump was facing Biden next week we all know the result would have been a fait accompli.

Luckily Trumpy aint that smart though. And funnily enough (actually its not funny) but Trumps own cognitive decline is the basis of many discussions in US media due to rambling, forgetfulness, making so many errors with names and details (MSG on weekend saying 'WW2 would start under a Harris Govt' etc)

Who was this far right extremist ? Times have changed.

"If they've committed a crime, deport them." No problems with that. What I DO have a problem with is "rounding them up and deporting them" because they aren't "American". He wants to deport the Haitians in Springfield - despite the fact they are all there LEGALLY.
