Yeah major floods only happen in 2024 due to climate change ...

So you still don’t believe in climate change?

The issue is these extreme weather events are becoming more often in intensity and number.

That is what climate change is all about. I don’t expect you to have the nous to understand that.

Nah, talking Trump overall. Not just this one further inappropriate clip. He is a dimwit. He is corrupt. A sexual felon. An economic felon. Paid off pr0n star who he slept with whilst one of his 3 wives was pregnant. Epstein close mate. Biggest megalomaniac I have ever witnessed anywhere. Voted WORST President in history - quite an honour. He is losing it both physically and cognitively. Already sewing seeds of doubt about election fraud. I will be absolutely disgusted if he wins the election. It’s the end of human decency as we know it.

For anyone to support the man compared to the alternative, I just have to ask why?

Many I have chatted to, here on BF and in the “real world”, have asked if his supporters are perhaps either not happy (threatened) to have a smart woman leading the nation. And I would like to see the % of happily married men and/or close relationship with daughter/s stats showing those peoples correlated support for Trump. Clearly, it’s a broad generalisation with lots of exceptions , but my gut feeling is there would be a noticeable trend overall.

On the issue of a women leading the nation, of course most conservatives (and we have them on here) don’t like the thought of a women in power - it is the last bastion for them.

And the one thing they can’t their empty heads around is the demographics of the US is changing - more hispanics/latinos etc.

Once Texas turns blue, the game is over for the Republicans unless they rid themselves of Trump and his cronies.

No one believe the immigration issue is an easy fix. It’s a minefield, but our hospitals our nursing homes are staffed by immigrants, our fruit our vegetables picked by immigrants, fruit pickers, market farmers.
Pray tell who is going to do those jobs and many more in our rapidly aging population if not for those immigrants?

And do you think Trump’s plan to incarcerate and deport millions of immigrants from the US is going to help the US?
You think it’s a good plan, do you? An ethical plan?
If that happened in Australia would that be just fantastic, hey?

Do you understand that it is basically luck where someone is born, into comfort and wealth and peace or into poverty and violence or country at war.
Do you think that those people unfortunate enough to be born in the wrong place at the wrong time deserve no compassion whatsoever?

The other thing is most of the immigrants want to have a better life and some of them have had to endure horrific governments.

The aged care home my mother is in (and it belongs to a large SA institution), the carers are predominantly Nepalese. Where are all the white Australians that were born here? Probably think it is a demeaning job that’s what.

Yes.

It’s like my own dad who is basically a nice person complaining about all these foreigners looking after him that he had trouble understanding when he first moved into care. I said, dad, if you didn’t have these people you would get no care, you’d be sitting in shitty clothes day and night.
Well, now, two years later as he has gotten to know them he is really fond of them.
They aren’t taking jobs that many Aussies want to do, they are always crying out for staff.
But is so easy to blame them for all of a Country’s problems.

Yep, he repeats the most moronic stuff like Hannibal Lecter and the weight lifter schtick because he likes the response they get. He doesn’t realise that most are laughing at him, not with him. On the weekend, he went down on a microphone…. Got such a good response he did it again at the next rally. He’s a lunatic.
When he and the garbage cult have lost people like White Nationalist Nick Fuentes he has a problem

I have heard 20+ presentations from Australia’s insurance behomoths CEO’s in the last decade - both Suncorp (brands are Suncorp, AAMI, Shannons, APIA) and Insurance Australia Group (NRMA, SGiC, CGU etc)

What do these most knowledgeable people say? Climate change is causing more natural disasters and causing massive spikes in premiums for home insurance. Re-insurance costs globally have spiked in the last decade due to weather events.

Ask the vast majority of scientists about climate change and see what they say.

So it’s either listen to actual experts who do this professionally for decades or…..listen to Bicks (and other such Trump supporters) conspiracy theories. If Bicks is indeed an expert in this field, I am very open to hearing his experience and qualifications.

The most disgusting thing is Charlie Kirks commentary on this advert. The gall to suggest women deceiving their hard working husbands is a problem. Imagine being such a brainless w***er like Kirk and thinking womens vote only counts if they vote for who their husbands let them vote for. Imagine if it was in reverse and they said husbands should vote for Harris to support their wives. Charlie would be all over it telling people husbands have the right to vote for whoever they like and Harris should step down in disgrace for interfering with peoples right to vote.
Glad someone mentioned this guy.

Seriously, what a f***** moron. A freak. It’s 2024, not 50-100 years ago where women were much more subservient to men.

Wonder how many other Trumpies believe in this shit - one minute mark. He gets so fired up on a fictional TV advert. Of course women should be allowed to vote for who they want. It’s got nothing to do with their husbands and vv

He ain’t an expert in anything unless it is farming related.

God that was sexist.

It is interesting that some think that because Republicans are voting early it means that Trump is going to win. Not necessarily so.

And lets be brutually honest, Trump’s base is predominantly white male, rural and uneducated college men. Who would have guessed - those that fear powerful women?

Oh dear if this at all happens at all, it is all over from The Deranged Orange One.

And this is a credible pollster - these are the latest polling in races

Final Selzer poll findings (and the actual result)

2022 Senate: R+12 (R+12)
2020 President: R+7 (R+8)
2020 Senate: R+4 (R+7)
2018 Governor: D+2 (R+3)
2016 President: R+7 (R+9)
2014 Senate: R+7 (R+8)
2012 President: D+5 (D+6)

I perhaps mentioned it’s the early voting FEMALE Republicans that could cause this election to be a huge Harris win if indeed 12% (or more) aren’t voting along their registered Republican Party lines. That would be enough to win the election if occurring in swing states. Ditto for registered independents with exit polls showing 65-35% type spread to Harris.

Overall the female vote is killing it 55-45. If that holds, Harris wins.

Mate (dude!) any idea what historically the % of early votes are between men and women? My understanding is women normally do have a higher % of the early vote but not normally this pronounced?

Mmm..Can’t for the life of me think why Florida is making it so hard for young educated people to vote.
Perplexed, I tell ya.

I actually think Florida at 9-1 for Dems is worth a shot (clearly it’s a long shot but the odds offer value IMHO with most polls showing around 4% Trump lead but that was BEFORE they offended however many million Latino (and approx 500k Puerto Ricans in recent days)

Edit - actually 1m PR living in Florida. The 500k figure in my head was PAm(which along with Florida and NY are the highest)

“This might be a call for action for a lot of people that weren’t thinking about voting but now they have a reason to,” said Fernando Rivera, a sociology professor and the Hub’s director. According to the poll, 88% of Puerto Ricans said they had an unfavorable opinion of the former president, compared to five percent who had a favorable opinion. Seventy-two held a favorable view of Harris and 10% held a negative opinion. The researchers noted that despite that there are more than a million Puerto Ricans living in the state, there will likely not be a sizable impact on the presidential election in Florida. Trump is ahead in the state, according to several polls. But they said it remains to be seen whether the comedian’s remarks play a role in states where the race is tight, such as Pennsylvania, home to about 472,000 Puerto Ricans, and North Carolina, which has about 130,000 residents with roots on the island.

The survey also found that Puerto Ricans are also politically engaged in the presidential race, with 69% saying they are paying a lot of attention to developments. “How ironic it would be that the Puerto Rican vote has the potential to become the October surprise. But obviously, we will see what is the impact of this,” Rivera said. “There’s a lot of communication between Puerto Ricans here and Puerto Ricans in other battleground states such as Pennsylvania.” The researchers received responses throughout the state, including in areas where there is a high concentration of Puerto Ricans such as Orange, Osceola, Seminole and Hillsborough counties. Dr. Sara Belligoni, a postdoctoral scholar at the Puerto Rican Research Hub, said that the sample of people surveyed had a good representation of age, gender, employment status and location. She noted that most of those surveyed had a bachelor’s degree or above, and the majority were also born in Puerto Rico.

EDIT - Attention : Moderators (Drugs Are Bad Mackay? Scorpus relapse ), if any of the below language is deemed unsuitable I would appreciate your feedback and will promptly edit. Clearly I am discussing US citizens voting in the upcoming election and not name calling any posters on this site. For example, if you prefer for me to change “stupid” with “less educated and less informed IMO” I am very happy to make such changes but just wanted to proactively flag as I want to ensure I have full access to this fascinating election and forum over coming days after never receiving one infraction in over 20 years. Yes many, not all, are the stupid ‘fly-over’ people getting left behind - not in question. I say stupid mainly because they just don’t get it. They don’t understand they will be worse off under Trumps policies like massive tax cuts for the top 5% of income earners whilst the bottom 40% of income earners pay MORE tax under Trumps proposals (inverse of Harris tax plans to help build up the middle class). They don’t get what taking away Obama-care means. They don’t understand- neither does dimwit orange man - that a tariff IS NOT PAID FOR by the foreign exporting country. It’s an impost paid by importers in the US who automatically pass it straight through (often with a margin on top to cover the additional admin and financial burdens accounting for it) to the end US consumer. How can these people over there be so stupid to not understand this? $4,000 per year additional cost as modelled by independent very reputable groups.

So Trumps policies are likely to see still just too high (but rapidly declining) inflation SOAR again. The US economy go into recession (2 quarters of negative GDP growth). And guess what. Elon Musk even agrees with these statements as per his comments late last week.

But economics will be the least of USA’s issues in my view with Trump. It’s the much more serious stuff

OneGreatClub just dropped to $2.20 in the last 20 mins :)

The trend is our friend….
OneGreatClub

I am not joking but now down AGAIN to $2.10 (was $2.70 Friday and $2.50 yesterday)

The big money is now coming for Kamala after the tech billionaires initially manipulated betting markets.

I have 22 different bets on so my shout for all decent people (inc any decent Republicans) IF Harris ends up winning

If they take Iowa they will probably take Ohio and Florida also. And Texas - it’s just a matter of time…

But happy with a two vote win but the more the merrier, esp re the different Houses of Parliament (which I know less about to be transparent re this election vs the mid terms)

Women don’t want to go back and that is all the GOP are offering them. Educated young people are concerned about the decimated climate that Big Fossil Fuels are leaving them. I don’t blame them but they have to do it at the ballot box in droves.

I just want him to end up in jail. End of story.

Hard to see him going to jail, though clearly it's where he belongs

The sentencing on the 26th of November in NY on his 34 felony convictions is going to be interesting though

Is it going to be weird when he loses the election and his medical records suddenly become available though
