Whether the pendulum goes too far left or too far right it always swings back to the middle before going the other direction then rinse and repeat.
Republicans can't help themselves. They'll deregulate the shit out of the financial sector, cause another economic meltdown and get booted out. Then when the next govt. has to clean up the mess, they'll be unpopular, get booted out and the cycle will repeat.

Without a 2 state solution, will continue to be a mess. Need to make sure Palastian leaders have nothing to do with Hamas... which surely can't be too hard given what has just happened because of Hamas starting this mess.
This is the crux of the matter. The war is between Israel, a state, and Hamas, a terrorist organization. The Palestinians have no role in negotiating any ceasefire, and how can a terrorist organization be taken seriously? The Palestinians should dissociate themselves from Hamas, but of course they won't, leading to the insoluble problem.

A two-state solution by defiinition would only involve Israel and the Palestinian Authority, so can't exist while Hamas does. Hamas must be killed off for any lasting peace. So, the problem will be everlasting.

Ask Hamas. They orchestrated it.
Exactly. They organized the original slaughter and must have known what was going to happen, so they wanted this. The question is why, and what are they hoping to gain from the situation? (Obviously, not peace.) I asked this on the day of the original attack and still don't know the answer.

The only think I can think of was they thought Iran or Hezbollah would join in?

Mind you, the people who know are probably dead now anyway, so we will never know.

So are you saying Israel's response killing 47K mostly innocent people is justified?

I’ll be amazed if we have peace for any sort of time - if two state isn’t part of the solution then this will reignite again. Guaranteed.

I wonder if a population has ever sabotaged it's own country so badly?

Mind you, those who lied have still not been held accountable for pushing it

That's what you get when you don't recognise Boris Johnson is a complete clown with little substance.

Managed to destroy his own party too.

Just for variety, some common sense takes on the LA fires.

1. 4mm of rain in LA in 6 months, extreme drought increasing the fuel load and pushing the fire danger season into winter when Santa Ana winds are more frequent.

2. Wind gusts of 100mph (160km/h) were recorded during the fires.

3. The construction materials of the houses that were burnt out has also been discussed - predominantly timber due to earthquake risk.

There’s 95% of the problem.

Air tankers (the main defence against wildfires in challenging terrain like this) were grounded because of the conditions. Even if they could take off, embers will fly for miles. As one LA Fire Chief put it “you could put a 10 lane freeway in front of that fire and it would not have slowed it one bit”.

Once they could get into the air, the footage of the precision drops those tankers were making was remarkable.

We’ve had fires like this in Australia in the past, they are indefensible. We lost literally half of Kangaroo Island in 2020, and it sure as shit wasn’t because of a DEI workforce.

I’d expect that all Australians would know this. Instead, many posters in here are gobbling up and regurgitating the idiotic politicisation of this disaster.

Some folk are convinced that it was orchestrated from russia in conjunction with Iran

October 7th is putin's birthday and things were going a little pear-shaped for him in Ukraine at the time

If that is in fact the case, it was pretty successful in taking the worlds attention away from Ukraine and focusing it elsewhere. With that and all the disruption to shipping in the Red Sea by the Houthis (also largely armed and funded by Iran) a lot of resources were diverted by largely the US & UK, but also other NATO countries

Most of Hamas's senior leadership lives a 5* lifestyle in Qatar

The Iranians (and russians) don't give a f*ck about the Palestinians, they're essentially just pawns to them

You could go as far to say that the majority of north African and middle eastern countries don't give a f*ck about the Palestinians. Palestinians have been credited with destabilising Yemen in the 60-70's. Until they were essentially kicked out, with many moving to Lebanon, another country they've managed to destabilise

The fundamental problem we have is many people would rather read an opinion piece that attacks politicians they don't like, than acknowledge the problem.

I think it's safe to say, we've failed miserably to avoid the avoidable

California was a mess before these fires.

Well, if you say so then it must be true...

.

How the hell do you know if california is a mess. you merely heard morons talking shit and sided with them because there was a fire. thats one hell of a conclusion to make even though every ****ing point made is debunked as outright lies. But according to you its a mess. like wtf man. You know what you just did. The same as when americans believe we dont like out healthcare or we walk around unsafe because of not owning guns. Someone put shit in their ear and they believe it because it suits their stupid narrative and making pathetic accusations about california when you dont live their, probably have never visited let alone know anyone who lives there is hilarious.

There are some pretty funny pieces from Bill Burr floating around that are kind of refreshing

Please dont bring facts to an argument of lies. People seem to get offended when it debunks their dumbass narrative.

Amazing how a lot of republicans and maga morons are fire management experts now. I didnt realise we had so many crows supporters who live in california and are pure government experts. Gees a few are embarressing themselves right now.

Did I say that anywhere? Why don't you engage with the question in my post?
It was from a post you liked & quoted that Hamas orchestrated the deaths. Did they really?

No doubt they started this mess & would have expected some retribution, but do you think they really thought Israel would retaliate by killing 47K people?

Labour aren't doing shit to clean up the Tories mess. Give it enough time and they will elect Farage under the guise of doing Brexit right this time, whatever that means.

It really has been a disaster and what can you expect when it was a con job in the first place. The rich played the working class off against the politicians brilliantly, of course using and blaming immigration for a loss of jobs. Which statistically was never true but everyone needs someone to blame for their own failings. The rich of course who owned the industries merely wanted to increase their bank balance. Basically a perfect hit and run job using the divide and conquer approach.
