But he has done nothing similar his entire life. Its odd that he chose that specific time to pull this out.
I get it, I just genuinely don’t reckon he thinks about the stupid body actions he does
Think the star jumps and the ‘thumbs up’ shit next to Barron. I just think he has no filter, from a body language perspective, which is incredibly dangerous if that lack of filter bleeds into other areas of his decision making
But the problem is when you stop thinking you resort to your basic instincts. Like when players celebrate goals with a passion. Its a glimpse of you uncontrolled. This is why I question it. Especially with his SA apartheid links and the racist elements of his family. So its not something out of the blue. His background definitely lends itself to the possibility of those salutes more than most probably understand.
That lends me back to my point, though - if he can’t have control over any irrational instincts or behaviours, such as this (whether it’s deep-rooted or not), then how is he fit to be a leading voice in the world?
Not that I think he’s fit either way at all, but I’m not sure how he doesn’t lose mass supporters after this
Well the MAGA movement has allowed people to say what they really think. The free speech etc. So he has probably become more comfortable to express who he truly is. And well thats not surprising with how lowball politics is this days. As I said, 10 years ago his action would have been determined racist immediately and he would have been moved far away from the political sphere. Now people are trying to excuse it. Why because we are conditioned now to look for excuses than the reality. What also troubles me is his inability to explain it or what it was. Just seems to point the finger at everyone else for daring to suggest it.
Other than war documentaries and films with a white supremacist plot I have never seen it done by anyone of any note in any form anywhere in the world. So yeah, will be interesting to watch to see if it merely goes away or anger grows especially as its clearly being celebrated publicly by the wrong groups of people.
He may be flip flopping on Musk, but he's stayed true to his white supremacist anti immigration stance
Or maybe it's Musk who's flip flopping. Flip flopping between his desire for that cheap off-shore labor that he can control akin to slaves vs his own fascist/nazi beliefs?
Or maybe Musk is calculating and his salute was deliberate? It has clearly appealed to a section of the MAGA base that were angry a few short weeks ago

Given that a lot of cruise ship staff come from poorer countries where the history of US race politics is likely not a core part of their education, a fair chance they do "all live under a rock" in regards to this.

I don't know why musk/trump just don't come out and say it was a whoopsie nazi salute and get it over and done with. They can literally do and say whatever they want now anyway

Elmo is a brilliant engineer and entrepreneur, but he's a seriously flawed character. He got into his current position of influence by virtue of money and the malignant influence he wields as the owner of Twitter. He is technologically brilliant, but he is not a nice person.
He is clearly unfit to be a leading voice in any many areas, yet here we are.

Surely management clear these types of ideas...
According to P&O, it was just the crew dressing up for Christmas. I doubt management had much, if any, oversight of what they were doing at the time.
I'm sure the ship's officers would have been horrified if/when they saw what the crew had done, even if it was done completely innocently (which I believe it was).
I believe P&O for 2 reasons:
1 - The personnel involved. It is inconceivable that pacific islanders would deliberately dress up as KKK.
2 - My knowledge of how the company operates. None of the major cruise lines would ever go out of their way to offend their passengers like this.
The "upside down icecream cone" explanation is absolutely ridiculous, yet it is still more believable than the crew prancing around on deck deliberately dressed as the KKK.

My point is these sorts of events should be cleared by management. Surely. Otherwise what is their role? Workers shouldn't be randomly coming up with different events. Someone has ****ed up big time!

They are acting like the Adelaide Football Club - stop justify it. The cover up becomes worse than the actual incident. Just own it and move on.

They were probably told (by management) to get dressed up in costume for Christmas. Management then left them to their own devices as to what those costumes were, trusting their judgement.
In this case, their judgement was innocent (as would be expected of them), but what they chose looked unfortunately close to something not so innocent (KKK outfits).

Keep in mind that for the true believers there has been a decade long campaign of constant and intense criticism of mainstream media, academia, science and scientists, researchers. All of which obviously has some truth to it, I’m not aware of a perfect source of information yet.
But this allows the true believers to live in a world where nothing could ever really challenge their world view, there never has to be a moment of cognitive discomfort where you wonder if you may have got something wrong.
News article I don’t like it’s just because they’re biased. Academics say x but that’s just because they’re all ideologically compromised. Scientists say y but that’s just because they’re getting paid.
For the true believers it really does feel as close to the Orwell you must not just say 2+2=5 you must truly believe it as we have seen from a political movement.
Ted Cruz came out and accused a news site of lying for saying Musk appeared to do a fascist salute, something which is pretty clearly true. To be in the good graces of the party you must reject what your eyes tell you and listen to us.
Of course you should be aware of bias, financial interests etc.. but I’m not sure getting your information from Mike Cernovich instead of mainstream news is a step towards reality.
