I like Nolan's films, but the previews for this looked pretty bad, IMO.

Is it really that good, for those that have seen it?
At some point there needs to be a discussion about where Nolan stands amongst the all time great filmmakers.
lol calm down.

Writing, producing and directing films like the three Batman films, Momento, Inception and now this? Yeah I think it is.

WOW

Look, some people will hate it. But most of those people probably shouldn't watch sci-fi.

Totally unfair. I thought it was okay but i'm not joining in on the circle jerk over it. The premise is far from original, in fact i'll argue that the story line has been lifted from a few Star Trek episodes. Matty was okay, but not anything extraordinary, certainly not lifting his status to "best actor working today", he's not even close to being in my the top 10 ffs lol. Visuals were excellent, score was perfectly suited. There's alot to like but way OTT praise imho.

Yeah, I don't think you fit into that category.

The movie frustrated me because there were a number of flaws that I thought could have easily been fixed. There was a bit of clunky dialogue, unintentionally awkward moments, a lack of focus in some of the story elements, and I thought the ending could have been tightened up but instead felt a bit rushed and incomplete.

The thing is, these problems were the only things that were holding the film back from being an absolute masterpiece. So much of this movie is incredible, and while not perfect I can't stop thinking about it and how badly I want to watch it again.

Interestingly, there have been some complaints about the length of the movie, and 3 hours is certainly long. But after walking out of the cinema, myself and my friends all agreed that it all flew by really fast and actually felt short. In fact, I wished there was even more.

I'd give it at least an 8.5/10 and the more I think about it the more I like it. So I'd probably rate it higher after a second viewing.

It took my breath away, more than once. It's been a while a film's done that to me.

Most films that are set in space will get my attention no matter what, the beauty of this one was that it kept going with it. It kept exploring. Has its problems, sure, but the amazing far outweighs any of the problematic that I'm not going to spend too much time worrying about what didn't work.

Young Murph was an incredible bit of casting, and Anne Hathaway was great. Very un-Anne Hathaway.

9.5/10

Rarely are films enhanced by having already seen them and knowing what's going on. This may be one of them. Still utterly amazing. Such a HUGE scale and such big stakes but it's still such a personal, human story that you completely connect to. Just amazing.

Also seeing at IMAX is well worth it. Incredible.

Just got back from IMAX and as much as I enjoyed it I really don't think I could sit through it again.

What a movie. Saw it at XtremeScreen. Just wow. Will post more about it later. I can see why some people wouldn't like it. I recommend everyone to give it a chance. Even if you end up hating the movie, it's still got a lot of interesting points. Personally I loved it.

At some point there needs to be a discussion about where Nolan stands amongst the all time great filmmakers.

Well…he doesn't stand anywhere close to them, so that discussion is finished.

I mean, **** me, seriously. The notion that Nolan is anywhere near the league of Kubrick, Bergman, Welles, Renoir, Huston, Ford, Fellini, Tarkovsky, Kurosawa, Ozu, Herzog, Wenders, Hitchcock, Keaton, Chaplin, Murnau, Lang, Wilder, Lean, Kazan, Scorsese, The Coens, Dreyer, Einstein, Mizoguchi, and a bunch of others is just laughable.

He's nowhere near the discussion of all time great filmmakers.

You have to laugh at the people claiming scientific inaccuracies. Even if these armchair wannabe theoretical physicists are correct, does that mean movies like Star Wars, Back to the Future and Indiana Jones are also bad movies because they have scientific inaccuracies? I have no issue with people disliking the movie, it just seems like people are marking it more harshly than other movies because it's Christopher Nolan.
