Yes you can post that content in here as a last resort if no other relevant thread exists. So for instance, if an article pops up talking about Leppa's coaching or Rockliff's captaincy stuff there are two threads which are dedicated to this topic. This is a catchall for those articles which don't fit into any particular thread.

My apologies in that case.
I always saw the thread as a bit of a compendium for all media, including articles, in case people don't read every publication available.
I agree that any ensuing discussion should be in the appropriate thread if there is one.
Some threads hold little interest for some people, until there is something actually reported.


It does lead to doubling up though, I guess, so stick it the other thread guys.

Unfortunately when discussion then follows its not like people quote the news thread and then discuss it in the relevant thread, they tend to use this thread instead which then causes the fragmentation

Then the last 340 pages have gone against the 'rules' of this thread. Why decide now to enforce them?

Thats a completely false statement. Conversations over time have constantly been redirected from this thread into other more applicable ones. If its just a short convo it gets left in, however if it starts to go over multiple posts and pages then it usually gets moved. As for the term 'rules' there are no real set rules on different threads but rather different ones suit different purposes. People don't need to come to the media alert thread to discuss a topic for which we have numerous other threads around.

I quite like having the one thread with all lions related media articles. It avoids me having to forage through all the the stuff in the other threads. A bit like the official trade/draft news thread we have at the end of the season.

Anyway, I understand that it's not the purpose of this thread and appreciate the job the mods do around here.

If this is something that would be appealing to others then we can look at something like this, however it would require others who then want to talk about the news to then make sure that they discuss it in the relevant thread so that the actual news thread wasn't choked with discussion. I'm unsure whether this would be possible TBH therefore probably unworkable over an extended period unlike trade period which is shorter.

I don't understand the need to argue about this? We're trying to provide people with a more user friendly board in terms of participating in conversations and reading content on a topic in the one thread rather than across multiple threads.

It seems to me you mods are the only ones with a problem with it. I quite like this thread as it has been and don't see anyone else complaining but you two mods. Just seems to me your excersisng an unnecessary power trip. I mean you've waited 340 pages to say anything.

The Brisbane board is clearly a rabble and the structures don't seem to be working. The level of thread turnover is ridiculous, and we don't have the skills to cleanly transition between topics.

My friend's cousin's dog told me there was a rift between the mods and the posters. I think we need a clean out at big board level - maybe get some help from the BigFooty Chiefs, ask for a Priority Poster.

Any time this thread had a new post, I used to click on this thread expecting news. I liked it that way.

Create a new thread if there isnt a relevant one avaliable. Leave this to the media alerts I say.

Not saying the discussions weren't good here, just liked the idea of just a media alert thread that you can go to for the latest lions news.

I used to like this thread as it would tell me about radio interviews mainly. Then if they weren't available online then someone would usually give the key points. Now it's just like every other thread on this board - full of complainers or people complaining about the complainers.

And if the mods were on a power trip wouldn't they be enforcing the rules without prejudice rather waiting until things crossed the "this is a bit too shit" line?

Have we considered simply splitting it? A thread called "Media articles and clips only" and another called "Media discussion". I'm sure we've got a second thread similar somewhere - maybe just bump it and start enforcing now?

Incorrect again. There have been a number of posters having issues with it both in this thread and via PM to the mods and many posts have been moved over the last 340 pages at different stages because they weren't in line with the general premise of this thread. I mean the first post in this iteration of the thread (which was going on long before that) was a bunch of posts being moved to a more relevant location. If you're going to be a condescending smartarse then at least try to be a factually correct condescending smartarse.

As for mods on a power trip, thats absolutely laughable, were talking about ensuring a thread with a certain purpose doesn't get continually derailed with discussion that belongs in other threads. If we wanted to go on a power trip you can bet we'd be doing a whole lot more than that.
