Seemed that way. Also seemed to defend in a more traditional manner. Not so much playing 5-10m ahead of their men

It’s wild how well he’s settled up forward, his leading patterns are actually really good. When he flys for a mark he looks like he’s 195cm. Huge leap & long limbs. He jumped straight over the top of Lobb for a hitout at one stage (and followed up his own tap from memory)

But then at ground level he’s quick, dynamic and aggressive. Whether he has the tank yet to pressure for a full game I’m not sure? Seems much improved from where he started but would probably need to see a full AFL game to know for sure - But his attack on the man & ball at ground level is great when he’s not gassed.

He’s also probably our most reliable set shot out of our talls and not only that but he seems to pop up regularly in the right spot to finish off easy goals and can make a scoring opportunity from nothing too.

For all the talk about Darcy and where he fits I think Buku should play round 1 as the 8th tall. Can genuinely play either end, will be an absolute handful as the 4th tall but doesn’t leave us as top heavy as Darcy would. I also think he’d be suited to spending short stints on the wing as a tall hard running marking option, so he adds even more flexibility than Darce does at this stage.

Kid looks very very good

He's certainly improved and should continue to get better. I still think his ground level game and defensive pressure needs more improvement if he's going to get regular games. He can go missing for too long in games. The previous match sim game I saw at training, he had no influence on the game at all. If he's not able to find space, he can be completely shut out of the game.

I also can't see how he would be suited to the wing.

Pre game there was a lot of negativity about the stream so just thought I’d mention having Jason Bennett commentate was great, not to mention hearing from a different injured player each quarter and a really interesting chat at half time.

JJ did a great job on commentary in the first as well.

The stream was significantly better than some of the junk dished up on Kayo from other clubs over the weekend.

As others have said, kudos to Bennett. You can tell he lives and breaths footy (not just VFL/AFL) and can effortlessly reel off background information on VFL listed players. He certainly does his research.

You can tell that Bennett is a former ESPN guy. Came back to the VFL like a decade ago or something and was clearly leagues above AFL commentators.

Pre game there was a lot of negativity about the stream so just thought I’d mention having Jason Bennett commentate was great, not to mention hearing from a different injured player each quarter and a really interesting chat at half time.

The quality of the stream wasn't the issue. It was the clubs messaging in the lead up that was.

Im still not sure if I got access because I registered or if they realised that the whole registration thing was stupid and came to their senses and just streamed it.

The final product was very good for an intra club.

Bennett was a pro, super prepared. Reeled off a lot of info on the VFL players too. Technical issue aside, it was remarkably good commentary for an intraclub.

I went to both Primary and secondary school with Jason. He pretty much never played but he has wanted to be a professional commentator since about grade 5 or 6. Practiced calling games from his teenage years and has worked his arse off to get where he has gotten to. I find the commentary kind of irritating because I knew him too well growing up (not in contact now) but I totally admire the absolute single mindedness that has gotten him where he wanted to be. He’s achieved something one in 10,000? 50,000? kids who might want a similar role may ever do? It’s very very impressive.
