By all means, change the date, rename it, etc. Whatever floats your boat. It was only set as Jan 26th in the 80s anyway, so it's not like I personally have any attachment to it, or have ever celebrated it. I find flag-waving to be total cringe.
What are those people going to blame next for how shitty their lives turned out though? It'll make zero difference to their lives when they could've just moved on and gotten on with enjoying living.

We are getting more backward as a country every year.
The climate protests will continue and so they should, Australia is a joke on the world stage on that topic.
