I went in both 2005 and 2006 and wouldn't have a clue who the pre-match entertainment was. Nor did I care then.

Yeah. The pre game entertainment is a bs waste of time. I'm assuming the AFL puts it on for all the non-AFL followers in attendance on the day...

I guess if you have standards you don't want to disappoint. The AFL half time entertainment bar stands just above the blades of the hallowed turf. INXS probably came in with the lowest tender for some much needed publicity (had no idea they still work).

Someone like Tex Perkins or a Tim Rogers would give the show a fair shake. A bit of Rrrrrrock'n Rrrrrolll wouldn't go amiss.

Why do the AFL insist on performers who are 25 years past their use by date?

Fair enough the public may not be ready for The Drones or The Butterfly Effect but what about Empire of the Sun (already mentioned) or Silverchair or even The Presets?

Time for Andrew D to stop listening to '1986 Out Now' and buy some more up-to-date music.

U2 will be in Australia this year just get them to come early and set up that CLAW thing they use as a stage and invert it just before the start of the game and use it as the goal posts.

These sort of things are usually good excuses for the television station in question to dust off some of it's pathetic and useless talent from right across the network and put them on the ground on the biggest day on the sporting calendar, a place they would not be if these things were judged on talent and talent alone.

I can live with INXS. The less Australian Idol-types, the better.

Powderfinger? Coldplay? Are there any other bands out there that could put a person to sleep faster than these two? I can't believe what I'm reading. INXS are fine (Especially when compared to the other suggestions here)

never find a bigger inxs fan than me, pre-1997. after that, the only thing worth listening to is afterglow.
no-one should be singing hutchence songs except him, and that aint' gunna happen anythime soon.
