Is Geelong more of a failure than University, St Kilda and Freo?

Comrades, sad to say, there has been a recent infestation of Neo-Handbaggerism on the Bay, no better exemplified than by our deeply esteemed moderator (& the Dux of Lara High), Tyler Durden, the bard of 'maggots, butt-raping and scumbags'.

No one doubts that Geelong in 2011 is still a formidable side - but so was Hawthorn in 1992.

The departure of my fellow Bunyipite, Shane Mumford, is going to bite them on the arse big time over the next decade or so. Meanwhile, Blake and Spudgun Hawkins continue to gallop around the field aimlessly, making their moose noises.

And let us not forget that Geelong has merely drawn equal with Fitzroy on the premiership ladder - it is still a long haul to double digit figures. For all the natural advantages they have had since 1896, that is a pretty shit ROI.

I urge the neo-Handbaggerites among us to draw a deep breath, stop reading the effluence in the Geelong Addy, buy Tyler a root and become reconciled to the view that all suns must set, as twilight descends upon the oil refineries and asbestos factories of Sleepy Hollow in all their glory.

A quality reminder for the Geelong 'butt rapists' 'maggots' and 'scumbags' Biff.

8 premierships in 125 years with 2 of them in the past 4. Wow, if not for this hugely successful era:rolleyes: (even Adelaide managed back 2 back) it would be 6 premierships from 121 years. That strike rate might as well be Freo's.

The Geelong ferals now bag Gary Ablett and Mark Thompson who pretty much single handedly gave them the only success they will see in their lifetime whenever the can. Poor form. They should be more appreciative. They should be willing to bend over, shove their head into a car window, wind up the window and let Bomba and Gary Jnr. go all Mick Turner on them (butt rape).

I realise his impact is about level to when he's actually in the team Biff, but perhaps if you watch a few Geelong games you'll notice Blake hasn't played for our seniors in 2011 (and probably won't).

Other than that, truly scintillating stuff from supporters of a team that only exists to be a step ladder for other clubs, propped up by the AFL for the ease of so-called "fans" who'd be confused if no Melbourne team existed in a Melbourne invented sport. Worthy of the following response:

According to the Handbagger flogs they are on the rise again while we are on the slide, all.because they arsed a flukey win against us by a point in Rd.1

Let them enjoy their false dawn, it won't last much longer.

I love how Sydney was forcing as many tackles onto Geelong as possible, their best response was to eyepoke or duck their heads.

Sure are a "tough" team .

Good bump Biff. Good win too for the Dees against Gold Coast.

You are on the slide for entirely different reasons.

False dawn? We've won two Flags. Do you even know what a false dawn is? Sorry, of course you do, you're a Saints supporter.

4 wins 0 losses compared to whatever you've achieved so far this year says so...
But I guess all the other teams who have beaten you this year arse fluked it also.

Will probably last longer than your premiership celebrations. :thumbsu:

Even if they lube up in a Grand Final, for all the scintillating football Geelong has played over the years (it naturally attracts the lairs), it has failed to translate style into dominance.

Serious, long term offended from a Melb supporter... :D

Code:
Geelong v Melbourne

1897-2010
Played 207 matches.
Gee 122 wins 83 losses 2 Draws @ 58.9%
Melb 83 wins 122 losses 2 Draws @ 40.1%

Just don't seem to have it over us do you?
Plus your last flag was 47 years ago.
Are you even hoping to see one in your time on this earth? :D

Yep, Geelong may win a premiership this year. Even so they are always going to be the Handbaggers in my mind – soft, long-term failures.

Posted May, 2009.
What else you got, biff..?

amazing how the saints keep managing to "fluke" a loss in the close one's, they've made quite an art form of it. So if it isn't injuries, bad umpiring, etc it's anything bar the lack of grit to win the tight one's ...

We managed to win a close one last September against you guys. Prefer that to winning a close one in Rd.1

Couldnt even beat Richmond, without our star forward. Argument is invalid.

And we were missing our best midfielder for most of the second half.

I prefer winning a flag or two

The obvious parallel - and it pains me to say this - is Smith/Barassi and Bomber/Gazza.

It should be remembered that the Dees in 1965, post-Barassi, blitzed the competition, winning the first eight or nine matches until Gotterdammerung beckoned.

Geelong in 2011 is probably better stocked than the Dees in 65, but the Golden Boy has skipped away on the Yellow Brick Road, Bomber wiped his arse on the Club, and Brad Ottens is not getting any younger (and as a corollary, Spudgun Hawkins and Blake are perpetually mired in mediocrity).

Geelong has had a great run. They've played some phenomenal football. They have finally caught up with Fitzroy as a club. But don't mistake sunrise for sunset.

Neither Blake nor Hawkins played on the weekend, and if you'd been paying any attention you would know Ottens is in his best form for years.

These barbs may have a bit of sting if they were a little closer to reality. No Cats fan cares about Thompson, and we're not really missing Jr either. Just my 2c.
