Play Nice Is Gil really this much of a fool? Jobe's Brownlow and the commission's "hard" decision.

Why would he even want to keep the thing? He has to live with the fact that he's now a convicted drug cheat for the rest of his days. The Brownlow is tainted.

Hardly the thing you'll look at in the trophy cabinet with fond memories, knowing deep down that you cheated your way to getting it, and cheated two more deserving cohorts out of the award.

Of course, being a cheat who willingly took PEDs and then tried to obfuscate his way out of it, clearly he doesn't really give a shit about integrity, does he?

According to his manager, the AFL asked Mitchell to present a case as to why he should win the medal? Absolute joke. What's he going to say that they don't already know?

The best thing for the AFL community and all its fans around Australia would be for the commission to rule that Jobe doesn't call another self-centered press conference so he can tell us about all the important life lessons he learnt whilst making coffee.

I'd argue that most Brownlow medalists had more disposals, goals, clearances etc. in their Brownlow year than other years.
I'd argue you're just hear to argue and muddy the waters.
We, you and Gil all know he can't keep it, hopes he voluntarily hands it back but Gil must play the spin.

Whether Mitch or Cotchin want it is another thing.

Would anyone remember if they'd bet on Mitchell or Cotchin and call in to collect? You know how the AFL is with the betting agencies...
I had both of them to win that year but obviously the ticket is long gone can kiss that $3,000,000 pay out goodbye (I did actually have bet on both no idea what the payout would have been).

If you cancel out the votes in the Essendon games then Thompson wins outright. Surely this is a fairer result.

Can you prove his performances during that year were somehow enhanced?

I don't think that's something that can be proven or disproven. I guess we'll just have to assume it's a big coincidence that he had a career best year the year he happened to be doping. Career high in disposals, goals, tackles, clearances, brownlow votes. Just happened to poll 90% of his votes in the first half of the season when the team was still doping.

His case should be: "I polled the most votes out of all the players that weren't cheating".

That's all it should take.

Has anyone yet realised that this isn't Gil's decision to make?
It comes to the AFL Commission, which Gil would normally be a part of, but in this instance he is not.

In fact, he has publicly stated he would back whatever recommendation went to the Commission as far as whether to strip the medal is concerned.

"What I've said is that I would step down from the Commission and lead effectively the prosecution and lead the recommendation that went to the Commission and then they would make a decision and he would be represented and have a view, whichever way it goes,"
It's not the afl commissions decision, Cas applied the penalty all awrds to be stripped, are the going to break their own rules? There has been a n appeal by the afl and the players it has been thrown out, I guess they could appeal to the galactic senate ala Star Wars
