I love Geelong footy club and everything that goes along with it but, in the end, I know the whole show is just that: a show, not to be taken seriously.

You make some valid points. The world is at a horrible tipping-point in history. We (the human species) might wipe ourselves and the rest of the planet out. However, there is hope - if we make it through the next 30 years or so, an incredible future awaits our descendants.

I am a Greens volunteer who always hands our how to vote cards at every Federal election. I am doing my bit (what little it is)

Don't you actually think we people (and esp younger people and kids) need passions like sport in our life as a healthy distraction to how *ed and miserable the world is.

I am bloody devastated and angry with what is happening in Lebanon and the fact a facist pig in Trump is very likely to be re-elected as US president next week, I cannot do a single thing about it though..

Cheering on my beloved Leeds and esp Boston Celtics is a very healthy distraction for me.

Moping all day and dwelling on those issues you mentioned is only going to ruin your quality of life and you will end up as bitter and twisted as Triggering Tiger

Trump is very likely to be re-elected as US president next week

Who knows what will happen but I think he will lose (despite of course claiming that he actually won, again) because in spite of everything surely the majority of women and immigrants will not be stupid enough to vote for him because, really, WTF is in it for them if you’re not into LARP of the 1950s?

OTOH I almost hope he does win just so everyone can see that he does exactly what was predicted because that would be the best schadenfruede ever

The Democrats and Republicans differ in domestic policy but are in lockstep regarding the USA's foreign meddling. Much like Labor/Libs-NP here and the Tories and Labor in the UK. A pox on all their houses.

As the market would suggest a few horses $5-$20 could probably all win it on their day. None fill me with confidence though so I've looked wider and landed on Warp Speed and Sharp n Smart.

Warp Speed had been chasing home the best in Japan and finishing close up last prep. Probably needed the run at Caulfield as it hadn't started for 6 months. I think it lacks a bit of high speed acceleration as seems to be ridden out of the gate in replays I watched and lost a length or two when they quickened at the 800m at Caulfield. The 3200m should help that and has drawn well so should just be able to put to sleep early and relax.

Sharp n Smart I probably haven't been a fan of the past 12 months but was a class 3yo and last start had to give them weight and a headstart at MV. He was flat around the bend but finished off like a horse who can run more distance. Usually Serpentine is one of the topweights and is always thereabouts in Group type staying events, so was unusual for him to be down in the weights and Sharp n Smart the toppie. While this is a step up in class I think there was enough to be enticed about the $71.

Warp Speed a fantastic 2nd and probably run of the race. $8 place thank you very much

Nothing in the cup but decided to put some last minute bets on at the local. Bel Air, Headwall and Prodigal Son got up, 3 out of 3 which never happens. Very arsey!
