I also find the use of likes as a metric for post quality to be particularly hilarious.

I remember. You're more a "Simpsons GIFs used per post" metric type of guy.

if I like this is it ironic, cutting or just silly?

I personally vote for nodding wink.

You stopped posting here but i'm reading this wtf???

The coach is responsible for getting players to turn up with effort, last week there was no effort at all bar 3 or 4 players. We have players who can play. Go through the list we aren't a bottom 4 side. We have players who were rising stars that have gone backwards. Our game plan is very easy for opposing teams to pull apart. When does some of that fall on the coach?
I disagree with that. Is it my bosses job to get me out of bed in the morning? No. Is it my bosses job i show up in a fit manner ready and willing for work? No.

Simple answer is the players bring the intensity and effort. Not the coach. Can a coach be inspiring? Yes. But i dont beleive he is to blame for lack of effort and heart.

Players are proffesional atheltes and if they cant get motivated themselves it is worrying.

Your boss has to provide the sort of environment to get the most out of their workers. If all your coworkers are depressed because of work and not able to work well then your boss is doing a poor job.

I think the lack of effort stems from having no confidence in the team and the gameplan. Which is an issue to do with the coach and a lack of inspiration.

I was being simplistic but my point is injuries have been used as an excuse for our poor form for a long time. I think it's becoming more clear by the week that they are not a causative factor at all, at least not to the magnitude some would like to believe.
You can't say "not at all" then in the next breath concede maybe some.:D
Last year, I think it was incredibly causative. This year not so much and I don't think anyone would claim injuries as the biggest problem currently. It is still a contributing factor, but much less than previously. Again though, it isn't simply that there are injuries, but more about who is injured and for how long.
If we had only 4 injuries, and they were Rocky, Beams, Zorko & Rich, compared to Paine, Paps, Mayes & Walker for example, there would be 2 different outcomes.
The injury thing isn't the reason we are where we're at, but it makes it bloody hard to compensate for other deficiencies.
If Merrett wasn't carrying the remnants of his injuries, he'd still be in our best, particularly with Clarke gone (to injury), so either out or struggling through injury, we have Rockliff, Beams, Clarke, Merrett, Hanley, Cutler and Andrews. There's 7, more than handy players currently missing or struggling. It makes a difference, and more than just a plodder here or there, one week or another. Not just an excuse, but important context to who or what we have to cover.

There are other, bigger factors, but this doesn't stop being a factor because of those others, and it isn't the reason we're struggling.

Good. Can you go tell him then. Please he is big and scary.

Seriously though. I dislike my job very much. Unfortunately i am in a position where i need to wait a while to change it. But i still go to work every day and make the most of it. Its called 'PROFESSIONALISM'.

Its really hard to imagine how hard it would be to go to kick a ball everyday for an average 275k a year salary and try and not make the most of it.

If you enjoyed work more do you think your work would improve?

Yes of course. I'd say 99% of these players are playing a sport they LOVE. So its hard to imagine why they cant get their best out of themselves. If they didnt like where they work they could of left last trade period. Which was only 7 months ago.

I'm more intrigued by anyone going to the trouble of checking likes v posts before responding.

Normally when I'm arguing with Skoob I just throw in a couple of patronising back-handed compliments. It's much less effort.

It's a lot more difficult to play footy in the AFL than any of our jobs and relies heavily on confidence. The players don't see the reward for putting in 150% for 3 hours so they're less likely to do so.

Hence your poor like count.

Edit: Apparently you have a good ratio. Whatever.

Thats a pretty poor attitude IMO. I think we are miles apart. Im not sure leppas the right person for the job. But i will say the players are so underperforming its not funny.

Look, nobody's knocking the system IM, it's been working for years.

Football Pope before the Melbourne game I felt you should have performed an exorcism to cast any demons out of MCG,then we might have won!!!!only our players ,no demons in sight!!!!

Yeah...Last time I tried an exorcism against Melb, I rocked up from below to find all our players were sitting on the ground.. I said "What's up.. how come you're sitting around?"...Response "We won the centre clearance and it was just bombed forward over our heads and went through for a point..there's .no opposition to kick it back in."

Well done on figuring that out, Skoob.

Tomic opined that he's 23 and worth 10 million and couldn't give a ****. I think there is a bit of this attitude at play. Also I see a coach too hung up on football, and a fragmented group who should go out get trashed and let some bad energy out. There are about 5 blokes you'd want beside you in the trenches. The rest need attitude adjustment.
