I found this very interesting, and wonder if we’d do it in Oz. Probably not segmented enough but you can see it going that way, as we telecast into different markets.

They did it for AFLX with all the on ground advertising. Streaming services and podcasts can now insert personalised ads like youtube. That's the way these things are going. Right now, we still have the LEDs at the ground, but they may become just green screens in time to come.

They've been doing something similar in baseball for years now. The ads behind home plate have been local to the home team since they started having them in the late '90s. On national broadcasts, though, they just put up a green screen and show ads digitally. I'm waiting for the day that it's just a green screen for every game so that the away team's broadcast can sell ads there.

Seems less important to introduce in AFL if everything is a national broadcast, though.
