I don't give a shit about grammar.
Seriously man, we can all understand each other because of the efforts of countless generations before us holding it together. Those that didn't get an education couldn't write and didn't leave their mistakes for future generations to read. Now we've got the internet; every man can have a say. You've been to school right? That was so you could uphold some standards for yourself and the next generation; even if you struggle with it, recognise it has an important place.

Would anyone else who "doesn't give a shit about grammar" be prepared to accept poor disposal skills, lack of work-rate or similar sins from our players? But we know where he meant to kick it ...

FFS is this serious? If so someone delete this thread for the respect and dignity of your club.
Or was this all tongue in cheek? If so I've never laughed so much in ages and you guys have a cracking sense of humour. Insulting poor grammar with poor grammar is good comedy but from an honest outsider's opinion it could also fuel a bad stigma rather than bring honour. No offence intended.

Someone doing their best and makes a grammar/spelling mistake, even if lots of them - completely fine

Someone in a hurry/ excited/ pissed off / over-refreshed and makes a mistake or three - completely fine

Someone who deliberately makes a mistake as a joke, as in a specific response to a previous post - completely fine

Someone who deliberately makes a mistake repeatedly, where they have been called out or know they're pissing others off - not great/tiresome -IMHO

eg that person who deliberately says his instead of he's - I'd love it if you stopped that TBH.

PS Thanks beez I think for the info re the ellipse was it, and it's three dots ... I use them a bit and never knew there was a right and wrong number :)

You have saved me a lot of work. Thanks.

Sad thread is sad.

Dear Grammar Nazis,

I visit these boards to enjoy interacting with people that share a passion. If my occasional grammatical error gets on your man-boobs, deal with it. I've not once found a post on these forums to be unreadable, and I like it that one's writing style, quirks 'n all, can bring their personality to the fore.

I hope this next sentence carries no errors that will prevent you from absorbing the gist of my message:

GET THE F**K OVER YOURSELVES

As a suggestion, here's an online forum that's just screaming out for people you:

http://www.online-literature.com/forums/forum.php?s=70521492049b9fafb0d704c97229c333

I trust you be relieved that you will no longer have to endure mingling with grammatical cavemen like us.

Kind regards, J

P.S: I haven't proof read my post, so if an error is discovered please refer to my instruction with regards to GETTING THE F*CK OVER YOURSELF.

LOL...replying to post to keep it alive!

wicksy and dansa et el, I was hoping this was tongue in cheek but the tone of your discussion worries me.

You cannot judge other people by your standards. That goes for most things in life. If grammar mistakes bother you so much, or you feel the need to belittle a fellow Pies supporter and hurt their self esteem (there are many different personality types on here) then I suggest you stay away from this board. Toughen up grammar police and hang around literacy boards to get your rocks off.

By your standards: people whose second language is English; people who have literacy problems; people who struggle with spelling; people who are drunk; people who accidentally make a typo and people who have not spellchecked or edited their writing CANNOT POST HERE (or you find it your civic duty to correct them).

Have you ever considered to many times too make a point understood it doesnt matter what there saying but the context.

FFS everyone, spell COLLINGWOOD right and I'm happy.

What? You don't have a post-season grammar review and grammar KPI's on the West Coast board?

Seems like only last off-season, we were on this topic - I'll paraphrase what I wrote then, I guess:
I 'teach English' for a living, and have done so in one guise or another for about 30 years or more.

But I don't come to this forum for any other reason than to keep in touch with what's happening with my beloved Pies.

I don't necessarily disagree with a number of points made on both sides of the discussion; I'm just not really here for that, although I've enjoyed the discussion enough to read all six pages...

Not to drag this thread out too much but if any grammar error annoys me it's "resign" vs "re-sign". They have completely different meanings. When someone says "I hope Goldsack resigns" they are saying that they want him to quit playing at Collingwood despite the rest of their post indicating they'd like him to stay.

Yeah, it's a good example of one that can cause heart attacks when the name is a bit bigger than Goldy's!

Yep!
That's the only one that really causes a problem!

Ooh...classism...wot a giveaway!
(Goin' straight to hell, you iz...)
Na that's just a stigma we've unfairly become labled with at west coast by the dockers! They call us names like Chardonnay sippers!!
Possibly jealous due to the fact we were there first, we have 3 premierships they have none, our supporters have on average more teeth are higher ejucated have better houses in better suburbs more money and less outstanding warrants.
Classism yes by the dockers! Now I'm off for counselling.:D
