It's time to seriously consider Craig's future

I was thinking too that he had several family members on this forum. For crying out loud Trigg was abused about the naievity of the coach by scores of Crows fans outside Telstra Dome (as it was known then) after the Hawthorn final fiasco in 07. The next year we get done at home by the Pies and the year after that (last year) we fall into Mick's trap and get ousted by the same outfit again.

Last summer in pre-season their players went about it with a sense of purpose and ours decided they were just happy being AFL players. That Hawks Final was 3 years ago and look what we have done since. We've wasted our chances.

And as for the person who said do we really think Malthouse would win a flag with this group, YES I DO.

Craig has been a very good developer of players, but does not have the nous to beat the better teams, or get us over the line in close ones.

Well said. I rate Malthouse highly and think he could have taken our squad to a premiership. He's incredible at wringing performance out of average lists. Ours, arguably, had more talent than Collingwood over the last few years.

Whereas Malthouse finds a way to win when the odds are against him, Craig finds a way to lose when the odds are with him. Harsh but true.

Well yes I have to agree with you. Thats why I just cant understand why Port Adelaide Power didn't wait until the end of this season to sack pathetic Williams, to sound out Mick Malthouse about trying to wring a respectable performance out of Port's less than average list.:)

According to Craig it would be good to have a reserves side, the one example he cited was trying Walker at CHB. This is another example why it should be Craigs last year.
Thank goodness we don't.

Its comments like that which make me question if Craig is the right man (and make me cringe)

You guys must be real good shit stirrers or absolute idiots.

Care to elaborate, Craig said it, I think it is a stupid suggestion of Craigs, you dont?
I think that what Craig was trying to emphasize the fact that if he wanted to try different things out, it could be done easier if he had more control.
Which he would have if the AFC had a reserve team.
The outrageous claim that he could use taylor in defense was never meant to be taken literally.:thumbsu:

Why even open his mouth to say it ? Should have kept his trap shut. Bloody ridiculous comment.

He mentioned playing Walker in defence at his press conference after the St Kilda game as well.

That post is laughable, you say Craig is a top coach yet his list managment is deplorable, by for two years ignoring trading, keeping veterens past their used by date and now finding we have a lack of depth and lack of experience, because it all walked out in foul swoop, another bloody AFC/NC YES person:rolleyes::thumbsdown:

You are one of the most negative, hateful people sometimes. Seriously, I can just imagine you with a hood, pitchfork and flaming torch.

I appreciate you don't like anything about Craig or the present board, or staff or... hell anyone related to the Crows really. Must be crap to be you. ;)

Neil Craig has his faults. Name me ONE AFL coach that doesn't! And like everyone else in here is saying, I believe "he's got one year to get things right" (substantial improvement). But FFS, let him have a go without criticising every single little thing. YOU are the ridiculous one at times, fair dinkum.

You tell me how you would have handled the delisting/trading/ etc better and be specific - ie. Which of the old fellas would you have delisted earlier? (Don't say Bird and Hentschell because I already said that should have happened, but understand why it didn't); who would you have traded? Who would you have traded for? What would that have meant in terms of who we would have missed out on in the picks that we would have had to give away as a result of the trade? And in the end result, would ANY of that made a difference to this year?

Not wishing to be contraversial, there probably were, but can you actually name any such players as a matter of fact??

Certainly as a group, there were no tears shed at his departure, and from the players I've discussed it with directly, they ranged from couldn't care less to being delighted to see the back of him.

I seem to recall various players making public comments in support of him... etc

NB. I am not disputing your version of events, but just amused at how many people think there is no difference between public and private opinions.

This debate is really worn out... the facts are NC is here for the next year. All the veterans are gone, the list has a lot of upside in it from here on in.

blah blah...

Preseason needs work to lessen the injury count.
Goal kicking needs work blah blah
Zone still needs some work blah blah
Individuals all have their own areas to work on...

Suck it up... and lets see where cards fall next year... I don't think we're really achieving much here any more.
