You’d think it would be difficult for Port to get a pick before ours at 4. But agree they are the type of club to pull it off.

A funny timeline would be

1. Beating Port, costing them top 4, but also costing us pick 4
2. St Kilda finish below us and get a first round compensation for Battle
3. St Kilda trade one of their early firsts for Houston
4. Port end up with a pick ahead of us

Lose lose for both clubs

WTF has Murphy got to do with it, that set up is too top heavy IMO.

We need another elite small pressure crumbing forward if Rankine is going to be playing mostly midfield and should be a priority above almost everything else apart from a class inside/outside midfielder.

You might not think retaining the ball in the forward zone isn't important but you won't find a coach that agrees with you.
Nekminnit.. ANB rumours come out. Lol

If Saints are letting Battle go then they know they are in a rebuild so why offer such a high pick for Houston?

I'd be pissed if my club gave up a top 10 pick for houston. I don't rate him that highly.

No, it's just that the first round goes for ages with compo and bid matching.
Is not really the right way of looking at it. Let's say there is a first round of Jamarra's that are tied to a club. Then we have pick 21. It's not as if we all of a sudden have pick 1 do we? We're getting the 21st ranked player in the draft.

Players being tied to clubs doesn't mean they don't exist.

I agree but all those players were first round picks. First round doesn't mean top 20 anymore.

We have 13 first round draft picks: Smith, Ryan, Cook, Milera, , Pedlar, Thilthorpe, Rachelle, Fogarty, Edwards, Jones, McHenry, Curtin and Michalanney. We paid first round picks for Rankine, who was a 1st round pick, and Dawson to make first round picks at 15. Only 7 of those played on Sunday but several of the 15 are yet to prove they will make it and McHenry at least looks certain to be delisted. We have eight second round picks too.

Good grief we should be challenging for finals and beyond with that. Oh well.

To me he’s very much in the mould of Jack Watts. Obviously highly skilled and highly rated as a junior, but is missing the aggression he needs to become anything other than a ‘pretty good’ footballer.
He went no.2 in a very good draft year, and has been lucky to escape scrutiny being based in QLD.
We already have too many players who don’t seem to care that much. Not sure he’d be a good get.

Strange thing is he didn't squib, pick and choose or show any flakiness against bigger bodies as a junior. Quite the opposite*.

*I think it's a case of being infected with the GoldCoast, man-bun lifestyle as much as anything.

Not sure ANB will help much in forward retention - Dees retention would be one of the worst in the league these days

23.7 pressure acts and 5 tackles average across the season are high end stats by role?

If Houston goes and they somehow get pick 8 from the Dees, they will then have the ability to bring in their F1 to pair with it if they wanted to try and get ahead. Would a WCE or a North take that???? maybe?
If someone offered the Crows pick 8 and lets say pick 15 for pick 3 would you take it? No way

(regarding above ANB comment, not relating to Luko)

We are absolutely putrid for fwd 50 pressure, so anyone thinking he won't be a massive improvement for us has rocks in their head. Give him a 3 year deal with performance triggers

fake news

Kane is just starting to plant a seed that adelaide was prepared to pay a price that port were not

but reality is port not even in the race

On iPhone using BigFooty.com mobile app
What?
He literally said adelaide shouldn’t pay more than a late first rounder?
People need to stop letting kane live rent free in their head.
