Yeah, they're reporting that he's just nominated Port ... not that the trade deal has been decided. Although I can't imagine it'd take too long, as you'd assume discussions are some of the way down the road already.

I don't see us taking 35 ... Next years 2nd, or potentially next years 1st with some extra heading back ... they've thrown the lot behind success next year, so they'll be confident of finishing right up there next year.

Looking at the draft order, Port have SFA to offer. If it's all this year's picks, Id hope it would either be something like Watts + 36 for 31 and 34. That would give us 29, 31 and 34. We should be able to do something half decent with 3 2nd rounders I guess.

Just saw Brisbane have 4 picks before we have our first. Wasn't that long ago that we were the side with multiple picks before other clubs' first.

Also richmond have done well. Won a flag and have two first rounders.

UGH. Looking at that indicative order just reminded me Geelong got pick 19 for Motlop. Weird system

'Weird' is a very soft and generous word. 'Broken' and 'unfair' are better...

The AFL are free to give out whatever compo they like, and don't have to justify it or provide transparency about the compo 'formula'. It's garbage. Barrett is running with the story that they gave them 19 for Motlop to help the Ablett trade get over the line.

Watts + 36 for 31 and 34 is reasonable from my perspective.

Feel sad for Jack. I don't know him at all but I just feel that he wanted to see this whole thing through and I felt his redemption/2nd half of career resurgence was right around the corner after everything he and the club have been through. Something just feels a little off about this situation, but it's a harsh business.

If it's both that's a good result for us. The draft points system is fairly off being an accurate quantitative measure of value but those picks together are the equivalent of pick 15. I'd be stoked with pick 15 for Jack, and I'll be fairly pleased if we manage to trade those picks into the top 20.

Id be stoked with 15 too, but the real world value of those picks is nothing near 15, regardless of the exponential function the AFL have dreamed up to model pick value.

Thanks Jack.

You've spent the better part of nine years in a complete and utter shitshow of a footy club. We've been a disaster off field. You were marketed as the great white hope when you were still a kid in year 12. You've been beaten from pillar to post by everyone involved.

But despite this, you have continued to fight for this joint. Yeah, you've had your problems. But I'm not going to abuse you because the way you were treated by the club was worse.

Thanks for everything you've done. Thanks for all the time you have put into every kid supporter of the club. Thanks for the barbeques. Thanks for Queen's Birthday, that immortal moment that will leave you a real legacy at the MFC.

Good luck at PA. Hope we don't run into you in a final.
 
Worst trade I've seen in years, including the shambles of 2011-2013.

We give up two first round picks for Jake Lever and take Pick 31 for Jack Watts. You have got to be kidding me.
