Hird's mum & dad are big socialists & ALP supporters.
There was a lot of friction in the family when Tania bought Ian Hanke on board, a known Liberal backer.
Hanke has been on the payroll of the new Liberal government in Tassie this year, costing lots of taxpayers money for very little input.

Given that their main spin/message is "Tasmania is open for business" with a hidden subtext of "we are screwing the greenies every which way and you can do whatever business you like in the bush, reserved areas included", I'm not sure a work experience kiddy with Liberal Party leanings couldn't have done just as well for free.

Sorry to go off topic but this thread has hardly been riveting of late.

Anyway, aren't we all just neocons now?

Well certainly in one aspect with regards to this matter;

Reports that say that something hasn't happened are always interesting to me, because as we know, there are known knowns; there are things we know we know. We also know there are known unknowns; that is to say we know there are some things we do not know. But there are also unknown unknowns -- the ones we don't know we don't know.

A Golden Boy will defend itself to the last breath if its Golden Boyness is threatened. They simply have no coping mechanisms in a world without their Golden Shield.

Bingo!

Albert has gone too far down the rabbit hole to try to climb out now- all or nothing..

Gents- a great example of the difference between listening to your wife and actually taking her advice (or reverse for female/hubby or same sex partners so as not to offend anyone!)

In poker parlance, Hirdy is pot committed.

The Essendon board are responsible for removing Hird not the AFL, but they also have no balls, they bend over every time a supporter threatens to not renew membership, this club really deserves everything it gets for failing to deal with Hird right at the start as most other clubs would have done, club champion or not
Agreed, I probably wrote my post a bit quick. The thread just got to me LOL

From Justin Quill. A leading Melbourne Lawyer:

In his statement about the appeal Hird tried to elevate it to something it’s not, to gain some high moral ground. Hird’s statement read that it was extremely important that “an investigation based on unlawfully gathered information never occurs again to any person, sporting club or organisation”. Please, James. You’re not trying to put away a murderer so they can never kill again.

His statement was curious in another way. It read: “I am requesting expedition of this appeal and will not ask for a stay of the notices.”

Yet Hird’s court documents lodged for the appeal seek “an order permanently staying the operation of the (show cause) notices”.

Meh
By now only the most stupid and naive would believe any statements by this serial drug cheating sociopath.
Great comments, it's this first-world problem magnifying glass that Hird seems to want everything viewed through.

Natural justice violated, Burnside calling the Hird's plight 'tragic' etc.

Coming the raw prawn much?

"Ah, he's a kid with as dream.

James Hird's case reminds me of my secondwife. All dressed up and no place to go"

"Squadoosh!"

Except the poor bastard doesn't realise he's only got 1 out left on the river and he's facing a made hand.

Haven't read all the posts so might be repeating someone but my real problem with Hird now is that he is not actively shouting out his innocence but is instead trying to get off on a technicality (and technicality that he is struggling to get a judge to agree with).

If you kill someone and the police have DNA evidence but you get the DNA evidence thrown out it doesn't mean you didn't do it it just means you are a worm and may have wriggled out of it but a grub you are.

I don't know either, but there are rumours starting to surface to this effect - and not all from trolls or scaremongers either.

Keating once described Costello as "all tip and no iceberg". This is more your standard iceberg, and the divers have been in the water for some time. They've had to come up a few times, to get their tanks refilled, but they're back in the water now.

Has anyone ever heard or read a reasonable explanation for the SMS Dank sent to Hird, when he mentioned the "revenue streamS" for the AOD "project", and the "financials" being ready for "you and David"?

Couple that with Dank's SMS conversation with 'The Pharmacist', where they talk about 'cocktails' of AOD and 'the Thymosin', throw in the Calzada business plan for the development of AOD as an agent for build and repair (in combination), understand the heavy user community (of AAS, HGH and peptides) reckon you only get a bang for your buck if you combine peptides (so you get the synergistic progress toward mimicking HGH), and you start to wonder why so many keep staring at the tip, and allow themselves to be ice-blinded.

Costello's an Essendon supporter, too.

Good article by Greg Baum... http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/james-hird-gets-his-day-in-court--again-20141110-11jxwm.html

Bottom line, James Hird is trying to get off on an elaborate technicality.
...
But the word "drugs" was heard only once all day, and "supplements" not at all, and at the adjournment, we were a few hours closer to knowing Hird's fate, but none at all to knowing what the hell did happen at Essendon.
Greg Baum is usually a pretty good writer and this is no exception. Fairly good summation of the day's events with little of his personal opinion bar a couple of fair observations

Peter Costello was the number 1 ticket holder at the Bombers and at the Cronulla Sharks
Now,if we could only place Tony (no shirt front) Abbott with these two clubs we'd have a grand ol' "who's on first" routine for the ages.

Technicality for sure, but I think Hird still has a fair chance of winning his appeal.

After hearing the arguments again, I just can't see what AFL and ASADA did as being above board.

That's good enough for the bomber fanboys though.

Putin is a firefighting, bear wrestling, ex-KGB, deep sea diver, judo expert and poison specialist.

If I were Abbott I would have snuck up on him from behind with a few mates and a couple of cricket bats.
