There's a line of thinking that sometimes Caro runs decoy diversionary stories to take people's attention away from one issue and direct that attention somewhere else, such as running the AFL leaked story about Mifsud/Rendell to divert attention from the Jurrah story. Such diversionary stories are usually stories leaked by AFL House.

Often Wilson also holds this stories until it is opportune to run them.

Now if you were cynical enough to suspect this pattern of behaviour, what stories could warrant such a diversion.

Melbourne have just gone through a firestorm and if they lose badly again this week the firestorm may come close to destroy the club so what better way to run a story that attacks the club that beat them. Melbourne get smashed and there is no Melbourne story next week.

Or

The AFL have reported last year and this year that players have been given 6 week club suspensions which have been cloaked under the guise of moderate term injuries. Franklin's absence last year was reportedly suspect on this basis.

Go and look at the injury lists this year and the number of players who will not play until round 6 under the guise of injury.

There is more than meets the eye with the hird story.

I do think that Caro is getting her stories leaked from the big house. May or may not be Vlad.

Personally I think there is two main factions in footy atm. AFL house and the clubs.

The timing of these stories is incredible to say the least.

I just hope vlad ends up on the losing side because he is a muppet, whichever side that is.

At this point looks like Hird is the fall guy for essendons drug cheating.

On topic though. Essendon are screwed, Hird *has* taken banned substances. Every person has the legal right to protect themselves from defamation regardless of whatever confidentiality clauses that they may be bound by with the investigation. Its a basic human right. Hird could have easily said " That is a crock of shit and Dank will face my lawyers". he didn't do that, again, he used the investigation as a shield.

I cant stand cheats. Essendon atm are benefiting from a 12 month systematic program of doping. I personally can not wait till they are caught and organised drug taking is removed from our game.

I agree. She's a terrible journo, and her articles tend to be badly written.
But she's an OPINION columnist, mostly. She's also a pundit who appears in other parts of the media. None of this gives me any reason to question the reporting of other fairfax staff(although fairfax has been responsible for some questionable journalistic practice lately).

I don't know if James injected himself or with what or in what circumstances- we are relying on Dank's word after all.

But this is how you defeat Caro and her vicious media blade. If Essendon want to back Hird, Essendon should shut up shop media wise completely, say they can make no further comment about the matter. They should not even acknowledge her column. Then they should get the heaviest Essendon hard hitter to go onto Footy Ossified and rottweil her in the most brutal way possible, publicly and on her own TV show..... Metaphoricaly leave her on the road, a crumpled mess.

The media will then die down in a couple of weeks and then the mysandrist will shift her knives to someone else like NM, Clarkson, Voss, Melbourne ( her list of vendettas is endless).
