What a pickle Barham seems to be in now.

Needed Sheedy's vote to overrule Brasher and sack Rutten for a play at Clarkson. Several board members resign.

The remaining board members (ex Sheedy) select BScott as HC from 2023. Gives a press conference of unity in the decision.

Sheedy goes rogue!
Should be an easy descion for Barham

Surely Sheedy just has to go now. He's simply making a fool of himself and undermining Essendon's 'united front'.

Rule number one - regardless of what goes on behind closed doors, toe the party line to the media (at least).

I don't get the love of James Hird as a coach. Nostalgia for his playing days? The thing is, he wasn't setting the world on fire BEFORE the scandal. 8th in 2011 and 11th in 2012 before the scandal came out in 2013. If he was Clarkson or Hardwick or someone who has been amazing I would understand the urge for a second chance. But this bloke wasn't outstanding at his job even before we get into the debate about the off field stuff.

Yep he can be upset but don't go publicly undermining the club

See Hirdy was set to lead Essendon to the promised land, then they got framed for TB4 by the AFL because the AFL were scared of the impending 10 year dominance that Hirdy was going to create. And the NWO got involved and brought WADA over the top because the global elite feared Hirdy. Something along those lines.

You are describing how to behave as a mature adult. Someone who should understand the difference between being a public figure and coach who gets their own way. And someone who goes on a board, who has to be a team player.
Sheedy is just making a clown of himself now, if he hasn’t been doing this for years anyway.

Certainly agree with not going public but to be privately upset & not let go is even a bigger problem because as sure as day follows night, he'll inevitably destabilize the club or people within club he resents at some stage down the track, he's either 100% behind the new coach & board or he has to GO. Running business's for over half my life you cannot tolerate this kind of behaviour, it's destabilizing, toxic & doomed with ongoing problems that the club can ill-afford or simply does not need.

yep

over to Barham to sort this out. get him out of the club. no official role. no ambassadorship
he can come to functions and hug Hird all he likes.

**** off.
to even utter that to Robbo, esp on the day we appoint Scott....sigh. way to spoil your legacy.
We’ll said, club deserves better after opening a new chapter, particularly one which has been lauded in the footy community.

Agree has to go and I think he will.

"The club has to be united ... whatever David Barham does now, he is the chairman. He, at this stage, has to bring the club together ... and, if you don't want to support David Barham, get off because you lost the vote. So don't sit there and nitpick. Not even nitpick, don't sit there and backstab. If you don't want to be there and you don't believe in what they're doing, get out and they'll get people in so that they're on the same page."

- Mark Robinson ... agitating for the likes of Simon Madden to resign in August.

Do these words apply to Kevin Sheedy? Or is the Sheedy/Hird double-standard in effect yet again?

Sheedy made Essendon a (successful) cult and there's enough blinded fans, especially in the coteries, who think the only way to succeed is to return to those days.

As a Carlton fan I can only encourage the nutters, even though I really respect the way the core of rational dons fans cope with the crazy.

Sadly for my amusement I think the hardcore are finally understanding the foaming isn't going to get them anywhere and are mostly behind the steadying hand of Scott, at least until he fails to win the flag in 2025, something I've seen mentioned on twitter a few times as a minimum benchmark of success.
