This is why I'll forever cherish Gerrard Whately verbally eviscerating ol Hirdy on AFL 360 last year. A real journo asking the real tough questions of a bloke who is so far in denial it's not funny. What a complete waste of time that hour was, like seriously, what did we actually learn from that interview that we didn't already know and continually roll our collective eyes at hundreds of times before?

How stupid was I to think coming out of that puff piece that we'd all learn something new.

For all the journos out there bagging Tracey, it's pretty obvious Hird would only talk to her and one rule was no follow up questions, the abc would've known all this, Hird has been hung by his own petard.

Seriously though, we knew this was coming. The only reason Hird did this *cough* interview *cough* was because Tracey is a Hirdite. He knew there were no tough questions coming, and maybe even received an early copy of her questions in the first place. It's an absolute sham, but there is no chance of Hird doing an interview with a real reporter. We saw a taster of him being grilled by a real journalist with Whately last year, he was completely out of his depth. He would never risk it, because he's a coward and knows how guilty he really is.

If you'd hear the promo spot on SEN that Tracey did you'd have known what has coming. Basically she was like 'James is not being paid, I'll ask him the tough questions' and then said 'there's a lot to ask in terms of the AFL's involvement, why CAS could come to such a different finding the the AFL tribunal on the same evidence, and questions around the WADA code in relation to team sports'.

So yeah, straight talking points from the get go.

This type of interview was widely predicted. I had hoped Tracy would have seen which way the gale was blowing and gone in hard with the questions. Instead she has hurt her reputation.

Sadly, she has precisely lived up to her reputation. No more. No less.

That whole thing had to have been scripted, the way he was rattling off specific names/dates/rounds/games etc without even having to think about it for even a second is not how a person normally responds to questions they haven't heard before.

I think Tracey set him up. Legit. That last question PERFECTLY puts into perspective EVERYTHING he has been trying to do during the ENTIRE saga.

She said yes to every request of his about the interview. Knowing just how self serving it would make him look.

Dunno...any claim she makes to this effect later will only look like she's trying to excuse a universally criticised performance...
