to me that's a much better outcome than ankle which from experience watching sport takes longer and can be more complicated, but I'm not doctor, here's hoping it's neither and just a sprain.
A fractured fibula IS a broken ankle, assuming distal fibula. But if it’s really low, it may be relatively minor, he could actually walk on it, etc. and the recovery would be faster because the stability of the joint would be less severely compromised.

Shows how much I know, thanks for the info Doc. :thumbsu::praying:

At the time I thought either fibula or #5th metatarsal in his foot were the likely concerns. Both are not terrible but would be 6-8 week type injuries

Reporting its a small crack in the fibula. Maybe not too bad then but will miss a bit of time, maybe only 4 if its just a small crack, more like 6 at a guess

Title seems a bit misleading. It's definitely bad news, but given the player in question a 4-6 week layoff is a relatively good outcome when you compare it to some of his rotten luck

no medic, but is a cracked bone a better result than soft tissue? My own personal experience is ligament damage takes ages as you keen wanting, or depending where on body, needing to use that part of you body and it just doesn't heal quick enough or good enough.

Think they are better because once a bone is healed, it's healed?

One thing to note about Jamie is that he appears to be one tough hombre. Wasn't too much in the way of carry on/pain when he did it. He is cool.

No medic either but I would suspect the ligaments would also have significant damage. Either way there's gonna be a fair bit of rehabilitation between now and when he gets back onto the park.

I had a serious workplace injury to the ankle and foot and I can attest that the soft tissue injuries take much longer to mend.

It's just a cursed travesty that a dynamic player like Billy has suffered so much injury. :'(The amazing fortitude and determination that he's shown to get back to his best is evident in the incredible muscular development of his whole body. So much pure hard work has gone into that over the years.
Here's hoping he can gather the same motivation to do it all again and come back sooner rather than later. At least he knows how to handle rehab. :(

The Age confirmed fractured fibula but also say they have yet to scan the damaged ankle. Sounds like it could be a double whammy and 3 months is predicted. Surgery upcoming for the fracture, I assume.

Not good. Perhaps syndesmosis injury to go with.

Far out,he’s unlucky. Now they’re talking about surgery and up to three months on the sidelines. Not good news at all.
It's been so good seeing him playing well after his back issues. I had wondered if we'd ever see the old Billy again, but he's obviously put in a lot of rehab work to get back to his top.

This is a set back that no-one deserves, but if it turns out to be only 6 weeks, we can all be thankful. The unknown to us is other damage that might have been done, but for now, it's a bone break. Hurry back bro.

I’m no doc, but I tore ligaments off the bone in my ankle and doctor said a broken ankle would have been better. Missed 3months including our GF 😩.

let’s hope 8 weeks and he’s back.
