I'm with Punter & Persevering Saint on this one.

Q. Where is Troy Schwarze playing these days? - not to get him back, just out of interest

I think i heard that he is coaching&playing at a lower league club on the mornington peninsula. Dont quote me on that though.

Been away for a few weeks and only got back today, to find this thread. I started a similar one, about 6 weeks ago and got absolutely bagged for saying Blake was terrible and not up to it. All of a sudden, and not suprisingly, it seems many are in agreement with me. Get rid of him, he is taking up the spot of someone with ability, like Voss, Ferguson or Watts.

I look at our list, and I would delist other players before Blake (all things being equal, such as contract amount and length). I think this year Andrew Thompson will retire. If he didn't play on Saturday, when do you play him? Brett Voss has probably reached his full potential as a footballer, and is 29 and undersized. Matthew Ferguson cannot get a game, and neither can Shane Birss or Barry Brooks. Matthew Clarke clearly won't be at the club playing next year. Andrew McQualter hasn't developed as we all would have liked. Philip Raymond seems like a bust. Justin Sweeney is a punt that may not have come off.

I've just named nine players. Delist six of them and we have more than enough holes for next year's additions. Do we really need that much of a cleanout, or to just commit ourselves to our post-break gameplan, and get a bit of luck with injuries? Blake stays, although IMO he is not a best 22 selection. Now you have one of the longest answers to what was probably a one-word question. ;)

Yes where only going to lose a max of 6 to 7 probably so given

Hamill/Gherig and Harvey are at least possible, and Clarke is a 90% chance There may be a few before him

Just like Chapman - you're ahead of your time!

What actually happened when you posted your first post (http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/showthread.php?t=340178) on this St Kilda board was that you magically appeared after a string of Geelong shitstirring trolls had been posting absolute garbage here.

I took you as the same idiot with a new username when I checked your recent activity and found you on Geelong district league threads there was no reason to think otherwise. You even got a Geelong supporter to come onto the thread to defend you honour!!! - mate really, now thats pretty funny in itself!

It seemed like you were just focused on just slagging him off. I'm all for suggesting a player be dropped when their go through a form slump, like Vossy at the moment, but just focusing on the negatives and ripping into a Saints player whether on an Internet forum or at the game really pisses me off.

No one ever said Jason Blake was a great player, his decision making is frustrating and he seems to find himself in no-mans land moreso than any other player. BUT Jason Blake possesses heart, he's a battler, he's like our Saints of old - the underdog covered in mud & blood, pushing through the pain barrier and giving their all - sure, maybe only for an honorable loss - but they were still talked about over a few beers after the game.

I'm happy for Blake to be replaced by someone who will perform better not just for the sake of change - leave that for when we have ruled ourselves out of finals. Give the young blokes a run then.

Someone who gets to the Casey games will be able to make the call as I haven't seen them play much but I read Ferguson seems to be playing alright and Watts has been doing well at Casey kicking goals but how are they performing around the ground, in the contest, how's their decision making under pressure?

Hopefully there decision making is better than Blakey's. Couldn't be worse, could it.

Even if he is a Geelong supporter, he is correct. Blake is a hack, plain and simple. If he gets dropped it will be long overdue.

All Geelong people are eventually right aren't they?

;)

Blake has shown over the last few weeks that he CAN get his hand on the football.

BUT

His disposal is absolutely disgraceful.

With our new coach and game plan all about accountability, it works both ways. He can run with someone all day, yet can not be responsilble when we have the ball. A turnover waiting to happen. One mistake and the ball has rebounded up the other end for a goal.

I think we should be delisted at seasons end.

even the goal he kicked from 20 metres dead in front was a terrible kick and almost missed.

Thoughts a few years on?

He should be about the 26-27 player on our list and used only when we are riddled with injury, however it seems he is well above that on Lyons depth chart.

I'm hoping for less games from Blake this year as it should mean that we have improvment from our players ranked inbetween 22-30

Blake will get used a bit in 2009. Adds something extra in the backline and this allows the likes of Sam Fisher, Goddard and Gram to play midfield or attacking rebound roles form defense.

Dynamic when used sparingly as shown by that blitz in round 16, probbaly one of the last true utilities who could hold down several postions well enough to be picked for them without standing out in either. I don't expect his time to ween off this season ('09) actually, I rather expect it next season though since he adds a dimension where he plays.

Get with the times brother. Blake bashing is out for 09.

Did anyone remember Blakes performance against the Hawks last season ? (not the final) he kicked 3 goals while in ruck to take the lead against em' and provide momentum to keep the win.

And the Preliminary Fina against Collingwood where he racked up almost 30 disposals in the back line? this season i'm sure he wont weigh the team down. :thumbsu:
