Jason Roe's bump on Luke Brennan...not good

hope so

Im more worried with Luke - bucking frilliant thats just what we need!!! :(

Luke is in no danger of being suspended.

I guess now that I have said that he will go for a week or something, but seriously, there was very little in it. If Q Lynch gets off a cheap knee in the back, then Luke is in no danger.

The bump wasn't in the same league as the Johnson one, but the fact is that Roe made forceful high-contact to a guy with his head over the ball. I doubt there was any malice in it, but it still could have ended very badly. Will get a week or two.

If he gets suspended I would like them to let us know what he should have done instead.

Beat me to it by five minutes!

That's exactly the question that the tribunal must be able to answer before they can suspend him. This is nothing like the Johnson hit.

Both players were fixed on the ball coming from opposite directions at pace. It's still a contact sport and clashes will still happen. Zero weeks.

Turn a few degrees and cop the hit to the head himself?.....both players went for the ball and i can't see anything either could have done to stop the situation occuring.

**** me dead footy's gone soft if he goes.

He had his head down and went for the footy, just didn't have his head as far down for the ball. No weeks. Free kick to suffice.

Incidental contact....no case to answer.

If players get suspended for that, they may as well issue an edict that contested possessions are illegal and anyone caught even trying to go for the ball will be rubbed out.

Ridiculous report.

Beats me how Q Lynch gets off! I bet if Ben Johnson played for the Eagles he'll get off.

I thought it looked a little reckless.

Hawks fans may be able to answer this- is absurd levels of commitment Brennan's MO? He has put his head over the ball a few times in situation where he is obviously going to be cleaned up in the games he has had this year. I was impressed with him taking a nasty knock last night then coming back on and doing the same thing straight away without skipping a beat.

roe and brennan both contested the ball, and roe saw there was going to be a clash of heads and tried to get out of the way to protect himself. Should get a reprimand at most

Johnson on friday night was nowhere near the ball and lined up the melbourne player.

Kirky got a reprimand for this, Roes was a tad worse, so one week at the very worst.

I don't think Roe had many other options and probably prevented worse injury to Brennan as well as protecting himself. But it was worse than the Kirk one. I thought at the time that the Swans should have contested that - it was a collision more than a bump - but I guess they were worried about losing Kirk for a week.

I haven't seen the Roe one yet (I'm trying to find some footage to post), but here's some others to compare, including Ben and Michael Johnsons:

These are all great comparisons & show the massive inconsistencies in this area. Johnson is clearly a scapegoat. Crowley & Stenglein's are very interesting. Why didn't Crowley get 8 weeks? The only difference was Presti got up. So all that is saying is if you don't get the guy off on a stretcher then its really not that bad, which is ridiculous because it is a very dangerous action, Presti just got lucky.

Yeah when it happened first impression was 6 weeks but on replay u could tell what was going on.

BIG collision tho that could've been a lot worse. Both having a crack at the ball.

Well done swannies fans for not kicking up too much of a stink about it...common sense has prevailed...nooone likes to see a good young prospect rubbed out just for competing for the ball.

Great stuff Luke Brennan to get back on the paddock in a tight one.:thumbsu:

Theres a world of difference between the two incidents. Roe was going in hard for the ball and turned to protect himself at the very last second. Johnson on the other hand was always looking to go the bump and had a lot longer to think about it too.

I think the tribunal have got it right this week.:thumbsu:
