"Without a contract for next year, a bit under the radar. Played VFL recently with lots of recruiters watching. If delisted there would be more interest, may move as a free agent as clubs won't want to spend picks given he's been out of the side for so long. Essendon have had a look at him, need to replace Heppell." - Cal Twomey

Wouldn't be surprised if he's one of our delistings this year along with Lane, Madden, and Michael.

It's a shame because he's a great player and can contribute to a team, but isn't breaking into the side next year

These same like made up people

Have they played any games?
Lane: Been overtaken in the ruck order by Henry Smith. Zero games played.

Madden: Consistently an emergency but rarely breaking into the side. Played 9 games in 2021, 2 in 2022, and 2 in 2023.

Michael: Consistently injured. Never been able to string VFL games together without getting injured. Played 1 game, the Rd. 17 2020 Essendon game where half the team got covid, and kicked a goal.

Prior is the complete opposite of these 3.

Harry Sharp is the depth Lion I would be interested in. Prior still being 21 would have some upside I guess and maybe an astute move for 3 - 5 years
Harry Sharp has a contract for next season. Prior doesn't.

I agree. In the same boat as Dev Robertson, a good player but in a position we have extremely strong depth in. Should easily make a starting spot in any of the bottom four sides.

My first thought was why didn't Essendon want him as F/S in his draft year.

Staggered Michael only played 81 games. Was he injured a lot? Felt like he was a staple of that Essendon backline of the mid-late 90's.

He was drafted quite high and then chose to play WAFL instead of for Essendon that year which royally pissed Sheedy off.

Never really got out of the bad books.

Prior is a victim of Lions' well-stacked list. He is clearly the best "free-hit" delistee on the open market. Why have West Coast not gone after Prior?

Surely during this period of rebuilding they could do with some decent, experienced player developed under a good system at the Lions

He will be playing from the get go next season. Good player, is a leader, great for team culture and is better than many of the guys Essendon were rolling out this season.

Strikes me as the type of guy Essendon sorely needs to help build culture.

like who?

Jake Kelly (gone), Dyson Heppell (gone), Nick Hind (gone) so probably 50:50 against all those anyways

I know those guys didn't play all games this year, but all three of those for a start. I expect Brad will place a high value on Prior's leadership and culture building attributes in addition to his capabilities as a league footballer and relative upside as a 23 yr old.
