Jaxon Prior - Signed by Essendon via SSP

For me I expect Prior will be competing for the D6/7 spot.

McKay, KPD2, Ridley, Redman and McGrath* will be locked in. So that’s two free spots for Prior to be competing for one of.

Archie Roberts is the incumbent D6 I think he establishes himself there. a versatile midsized D7 is needed so that spot is firmly up for grabs.

Based on the list it’s Prior vs Rookies (Clarke/Johnson) or an oversized player like Lav/Cox or an undersized player like SEH or Sheil

So I think prior gets first crack at that spot

He was averaging 22 a game in the VFL last season. He’s a midsize defender with a decent kick.

We desperately need a player like that and he was likely given a promise of playing time to get him to sign on.

The walks in part says a lot about the state of essendons list more then anything else.
