Bails said on radio a while back that White being is also about seeing if Jamar has what it takes to be the number one ruckman............and IMO he doesn't. Don't think either of them will be there next year.

I doubt they would both be gone next year. Gonna replace them with Meesen and Zomer? I dont think so.

Jake spencer is the rookie listed ruckman, trent zomer is a kpf.
IMO spencer has been playing better than meesen in sandy, however the kids still 18 and not well developed physically, excellent tap ruckman but can't find the pill.

If we get warnock we can replace one, and I'd be expecting us to take a ruckman with our PP, 2nd or 3rd rounder in this draft anyway.

Jamar is contracted until the end of next year, so he'll be there.

Because of that, it makes me think that it's increasingly likely that White will be gone. It was mentioned in the HS today that melbourne is yet to decide on white's future with no contract being offered at this stage

On SEN before the game on Sunday Bails was interviewed on the radio, he said they have given Jamar and Johnson a crack at taking the number 1 ruck spot over the last few weeks, and Bails thinks that Jamar has taken on that mantle very well. Said he still had a few things to work on, but he is pretty much the number 1 ruckman at the club at the moment

If jamar can find a bit more of the footy i wouldn't ahve a problem with trading white. If Jamar can get between 10-15 touches a game then thats fine, he is mroe aggressive at the contest and the player than White. Johnson is ball winner and handy ruckman, while Jamar is the better "ruckman" out of the two. They are a good combination.

Third rounder if somebody is absolutely gagging for a ruckman for a season or two. Carlton?

Sydney for a pick between 35-50

I'd say anyone who needs some topping filler - perhaps Hawthorn? Their rucks aren't really that great, could need a mentor.

White and Silvia for Thorp + 3rd Round?

hey just wondering what the chances were of Jeff White playing against the bombers this sat? has he been playing for Sandringham, if so, whats his form like?

Reading what you guys are saying about trading him, I think Melbourne should play him so that if he plays well then his value would only increase. but yeah he would be perfect for carlton. Thoughts?

PORT Adelaide is relying on Dean Brogan to ensure they do not go into 2009 with one of the weakest ruck stables in the AFL.
The age and injury-related decline of Brendon Lade, the stalled development of Fabian Deluca and the retirement earlier this year of Hugh Minson have left the Power looking hopefully towards Brogan for the time being - a fact underlined by last week's loss to Fremantle.

Whenever Brogan was on the field, Port grabbed the momentum, but whenever he went off, the Dockers carried all before them, helped in no small part by Deluca's inability to hit his ruck taps to advantage.

Complicating matters is that 29-year-old Brogan is out of contract at year's end and is understood to be playing hard ball over a new deal.
Jonathan Giles is the only other tall on Port's senior list, but he has spent most of 2008 languishing in the SANFL reserves.

I think we have a winner in the 'which club needs a ruckman the most' stakes.

he gotta play this week, Jamar was his usual crappy self again on Sunday

if you think Jamar is better than White you have no effin clue

Bingoo!

He would be good at Carlton, however our oldest player is 28 so I highly doubt they'd recruit him. Saints probably, the love other people's ruckmen and King probably won't play ANOTHER year?

Sandy had a by last week, before that he has been playing well for Sandy without dominating. I would like to see him get the last few games to prove he is still up for it, especially now Jamar has shown that he is not completely a waste of space. We could potentially play 3 ruckmen with PJ as a forward, he is more useful than Newton up forward at the moment.

I can't put a percentage on White playing.

As for who would want him, maybe Sydney could have a go, they always want ruckmen and Spider is most likely finished. Collingwood could be interested if they gamble on Brown to win them a flag, White is just as good as Fraser and doesn't get injured nearly as much. I think Carlton are happy with the Cloke/Hampson/Kreuzer trio and are still a fair way off a flag.

As I said in another thread, bring him in and play him solely as a forward. He's good with set shots, has a great leap and can take a grab. It could be good for us to try something different in the forward line and it leaves Jamar and Johnson to develop their ruck work.

While I'm not completely sold on the Russian he's shown glimpses of being an AFL player and his tackling pressure is very good and he's not afraid to crash packs and go for the big grab. Even if they don't come off most of the time or at all I applaud the man for trying to get his hands on the sherrin.

Not mentioned yet but I heard he's going to GC for business purposes at the end of the year.

If true, then he has been a great player for Melbourne and I hope they can give him a few games to finish his career off.

Do you have a source or anything?

I realise footballers have lives outside of the AFL, but what business purposes does he have that he would have already decided, at this early stage of the football year, to quit his football career for?

Or have you been told by a friend of a friend of your mothers 3rd cousin twice removed that he owns an investment property there and made assumptions that he is moving there for "business purposes"? Maybe he's going to coach the GC?

White has him covered pretty easily on those stats. BUT all of Jamars season high disposals, mark, hit out totals were against Freo and Brisbane....
