Think he's a Swan Districts lad. Incredibly evasive and dangerous around goal. Can mark overhead and has a great footy brain by the looks. Has absolutely no right to be playing letting alone kicking goals against fully developed opposition hulks. He's basically too skinny for his own tatts.

I love him. :thumbsu:

It's actually good to see young players showing a bit in the pre-season cup, something a bit more meaningful to get excited about.

A lot better than the dim dark days of getting excited about players such as Chambers and Longmuir.

This may be anathema given our sponsor - but recycling doesn't work.

And facial hair ;)

kicks like his cousin 2.3 goals in a qualter and a half. the kids got skills. garlett, betts and yarran in the same forward line. magic
That was my 1st thought as well when they said he was buddys cousin, instantly I just said to myself "you can tell by the way he kicked that" as he sprayed one miles wide of goal.

Scared me most of the time he had the football except for the snap goal which was good, looks to have the same problem as buddy he is alright when he doesn't have time to think about his shot but if given any time to think about it he sprays it.

Having said that he needs to put on 15kg and then he could be useful to play out of the goal square with fev.

:p:thumbsu: Might need to abbreviate some words unless he gets in the gym, was exciting though, reminds me of a young skinny Michael Long judging by his frame, just hope he is half as good!

His is very slight indeed, but that does not necessarily mean that weight needs to be gained. He won't amount to more than a forward pocket player for years to come, which is just what we need.
Betts will start moving around the ground. He proved that last night.

I agree. What is the obsession with size, the original Krakour brothers were of a similar build and they both succeeded with skinny bodies. Not every player needs to be bulked up. And to the posters saying Buddy sprays the ball around a lot, any player that kicks 100 can spray it all they want in my book. If Garlett sprays a few but breaks in and kicks 30-40 he will be a gem.

He has to be an automatic selection in Round 1 V Cheatmond. Very very impressed with Garlett's debut. Not fussed about his weight. He has talent, and a lot of it. Elusive, skillful, dual-sided, surprisingly good overhead, fast, and great defensively. A quick on-field thinker, reads the play brilliantly. Richmond's small defenders define unaccountability and are beyond woeful, and with Eddie, Garlett and Yarran, we'll be able to target that fatal weakness perfectly. Eddie made the Tiges defense look like complete Donkey's last time, and Garlett will do the same. Just like the way our forward setup is taking shape. The oppositions standard "3 defenders on Fev" approach won't work this season. :)

I think he is rookie listed so he cant play unless we elevate him and I think to do that we need to long term injury list someone. I think LTI means 8 weeks. I dont think we have anyone nor would I want anyone to be placed on the list. I may be wrong though, I also heard we had 2 elevations available to us, so that seems to imply that we can play 2 rookies during the year without the LTI. So if anyone can explain that to me that would be good.

Yep, I've heard that with our current list numbers, we could elevate one rookie without an LTI. Not 100% sure though. Sammy Jacobs and Garlett would be the front runners. :)

I'm pretty sure we can elevate 2 because we have no veterans on our list.

Plus we can elevate another in the second half of the year with this new rule they are bringing in (not sure about this one)

This guy is seriously fast, did you see when he took them on and had a shot at goal? Someone was chasing him down and without any effort he seemed to just get away. We need this sort of speed in our forward line, and if he move onto the wings, he could help out AW and the midfield no end.

Exactly and Matthew Lappin was a gun,a one of a kind also, not everybody has to be a Rambo/Arnie bulid. The great thing with Aboriginal players are their freaky skills, more often they will make it then your non aboriginal players especially thin.

Like Matty Lappin showed some serious ability in the air, with a great vertical leap to boot.

Reminded a little of that indigenous guy from the Dogs - Hill I think IIRC

Nine-point specialist, Chambers. If only the rule applied in the home & away season he might have lasted a little bit longer in the game.
