White is a 24 yo who played 55 games in his career and was taken at #79 in the 2006 draft.
Watts turned 21 in late March has played 45 games and was pick 1 in the 2008 draft.

Both are @196cm, White is 16kg heavier.

Watts averages 6 more disposals and 2 more marks per game.
Both average @ 1 goal a game.

A swap is never going to happen and indeed even if it were Watts has never really looked comfortable as a KPF in the AFL, something Dermott Brereton hinted at prior to Watts drafting.

I'd also point out that in Martin, Fitzpatrick & Sellar Melbourne already have hybrid ruck/fwds.

Missing the Fremantle game has nothing to do with the present, it's irrelevant. He played the next two so in terms of match fitness he's missed one game.

If White doesn't come in for LRT (for example) it won't be because he didn't play three weeks ago, it'll be because he missed last week.

Good Analysis - thanks for that. You have a pretty fair point...

What if we added Jarred Moore. Jarred Moore is a senior player, a leader, a good footy brain and tough as nails and is exactly what Melbourne would need. He would also get some game time. If we gave them both for Watts... thoughts?

(Saying that, I like all our players and I wish we could keep all our players and give them all game time - get some what attached to them!:))
 
Lol, the old 2+2=5 trade. Despite Watts' inability to live up to expecations at this stage he's still got so much more upside than Jesse it isn't funny.

No chance Melbourne would take Jesse and Moore for Watts.

I wouldn't swap Bulldog for Watts, Bulldog is agreat clubman and is running around coaching the ressies from on the field. If Watts stats only match Whites, and White can't get a game, why would we want him?

Underrating Watts imo. Talls always take time and he is a much better footballer than both players. Watts' stats aren't similar to White but Watts has played more time in the middle.

Melbourne wouldn't even consider Moore and White.

I wouldn't think Melbourne would, the stats were quoted earlier in this thread on a similar post, which was all I was going on, and really, Moore could well be playing in a forward pocket if the I/C rules hadn't changed. His value to the club is under rated by most people
 
i'm not sure melbourne would trade watts. they'd look like right mugs trading a 21 year old kpp that was taken at number 1 in the draft. i'm with AG, i don't think he'll ever justify the number 1 pick though, but he'll be a pretty handy player and more than likely better than white.
 
I have no doubt that if White had've played saturday night we would've won, he would've been worth at least 1 goal whilst lrt wasnt worth 1 point.

I wont be going this week if the club doesnt sellect white, to me it would be a massive error once again.

Goodes wont play, so that means reid will keep his spot undeservedly so, but we have no choice.

cant play morton he's not hard enough, maybe tdl or gordon..

so outs- lrt goodes
ins- white, tdl-gordon(tdl isnt hard enough also)

seaby-white worked ok against port and north... lrt is finished, just like kennelly was- so that means he'll play on old glory days/

let me have it now guys-girls

Reid keeps his spot based on structure, drawing 2 defenders and until Thursday hadn't trained properly for weeks. He will be fine. With Goodes out as you said, we have no option to retain him regardless.

i would've played malceski over kennelly in both finals last year, but this so called great match committee choose sentiment over reality...

i think white replaces lrt that seems like a great choice by me...
and goodes goes out and has to be replaced by a forward- tdl/walsh/gordon, nobody will make up for goodes, but someone must come in.

yes morton is a soft as butter, thats nothing newsbreaking...

I haven't missed a melbourne game since my wedding 8 years ago, that was tough.. but im so pissed off by the club dropping white for lrt/ everitt that its making me think i mightn't attend, of course its only monday... as i said if white had've performed badly in his 2 games then i would've copped it sweet. but he did ok.. since then lrt has been a joke
