My workmate wanted to name her child Jihad because she said the word had been misrepresented. Freedictionary.com says Jihad means "Islamic holy war against unbelievers" whereas Islambyquestions.net says it mean "doing one’s utmost to realize a goal." Quite a gulf there.

There are loads of interpretational meanings to the word 'jihad'. For the sake of this thread, i'm using the 'team america' meaning. :thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:

I know what jihad means, do you?

Perhaps you don't understand the scientology meaning of 'fair game' :) Look it up sweetie and then come and talk to the adults. :thumbsu:
well lets see idiot.

number 1. don't call me sweetie. i am male.
number 2. refer to the meanings below. they are very different.

The term Fair Game is used to describe various aggressive policies and practices carried out by the Church of Scientology towards people and groups it perceives as its enemies.

In Modern Standard Arabic, jihad is one of the correct terms for a struggle for any cause, violent or not, religious or secular (though كفاح kifāḥ is also used).

hmm seems you don't quite get what Jihad means ... (it's NOT the same as 'fair game')

so maybe in the OP instead of "The term 'jihad' is to muslims" you should rephrase it to "The term 'jihad' is to muslims"

yawn, they are very very very very similar, infact they are the same.
are you mentally challenged?

i'll even highlight the vast differences

one is clearly just a reference to aggression against an enemy of a religion
the other is a struggle for any cause (not necessarily violent OR related to religion)

omfg, you remind me of that computer geek from the office talking about warcraft or whatever.....

For anyone who isn't a pedantic freak and slightly community spirited please advise if there is a christian equivalent to 'fair game' and 'jihad' :)

I don't know that they have a word for it anymore, but they do use agents for their own nefarious purposes, in a similar (but more subtle) way to jihad/fair game.

Father Chris Riley, for instance, has fought mercilessly against the homeless over the last couple of decades. He seems hell-bent on socially cleansing the streets of this 'so called' menace, and even heads up a publicly sponsored anti-homeless faction called Youth off the Streets.

As the name suggests, he is trying to remove the young homeless from their natural habitats and have them integrate with other 'better' social groups. Something similar to this happened before in Australia's history (hint: it rhymes with swollen beneration), but everyone seems to be turning a blind eye. Well played Christians, well played.

Christians>Muslims>Scientologists

hahahaha

I would put it like this in terms of worst to bad christians>>>>>scientologists>>>>>>>muslims

lol you might be right. I only saw scientology as a bit of a novelty until I heard of this whole 'fair game' thingy, but they might be moving up after that :thumbsu:

PS do you think Buddhists fit in anywhere here? I don't know much about them, but couldn't picture them actively seeking out justice like the others...

Well they're fiestier than what you might think. I watched a few episodes of john saffron versus god and the buddhist monks were beating their pupils with a big stick. Actually jake, it seemed like your kind of thing.

The scientologists are worse than christians actually, they're shocking. I've been watching alot of the scientology versus annonomous youtube videos, it's kind of like a real life virtual star wars - quite exciting. Be awesome if christians did stuff like that.

I don't know what you mean by that.

ps do you know what the Buddhist monks' stance is on pvc bustiers?
