Not sure he is getting knocked. At least not from what ive read.

He is a 19 year old Key Forward, he's not supposed to be dominating.

He did 2 really nice things yesterday, that resulted in goals to team mates. He has so much upside its not funny.

I think its good to see he hasn't smashed the JLT games like the praccies as it will reinforce how much more work he needs to do.

"Biggest disappointment from yesterday" was a post that id deem as a knock

He is normally better than that. I think he was just not used to the pace and looked to be rushing his kicks. I think/hope he will show that he is a better kick than some of his rushed kicks from yesterday.
I hope so. I want him and Luke McDonald to succeed more than any other players on our list purely because they barracked for North their whole lives. I couldnt imagine anything better than getting drafted to the club you supported as a kid and actually making it at that club on your own merits.

Did you follow Hibberd as a youngster?

I'll add a few belated thoughts.

Crowd might have been be a bit higher than reported. Saw a couple of groups sneak in as I walked to the entrance.

Liked the Welcome to Country ceremony preceding the match. Just another extra effort made by the club

Stoppage setup seems much better in terms of player balance, positioning and strategy. Can't remember any hack kicks. Having dominance in the ruck helped but we probably have had that in previous years as well without enough reward.

Liked the responses by the team when the run of play is with the opposition. In the first half of the third quarter it was all Hawthorn but North adjusted/lifted before the game got out of hand. Great sign of maturity. Also happened in the first quarter of the Sydney game where we looked outclassed initially but worked our way back into the contest.

I think someone has already meantioned the incident but when Clarke was linking up superbly, Higgins missed him and kicked it along the boundary to which an already stuffed Clarke looked crestfallen before sprinting the extra 30 or so metres to gather the loose ball. Funny at the time from a spectators POV. Don't think he have to do that again when Higgins is the supplier though.

Don't really like to highlight individuals because I can't keep track of them all (for instance I thought Dumont was good but was no means bowled over like most) but I try to track 3 or 4 players a game and was watching Goldstein closely. Unfortunately the body language he displayed doesn't fill me with confidence that he is either over his injuries or has 100% trust back in his body. Hopefully it's just a matter of match fitness but I didn't leave the game thinking 'He's back' by any means.

Another I couldn't help but notice is Simpkin. First impression- shit he's small.. However my fears of a one way player were allayed when he had at least three awesome tackles and plenty of defensive acts to boot. As a small forward those acts are paramount in being a great player for the position because every small forward is going to lack goal scoring opportunities at some stage. Yeah the flash is what will get the accolades but his defensive intensity won me over more.

Overall this preseason so far has me super excited for the midterm as I believe the rebuild will be a 'mini' one. Not going to overreact though and adjust my expectations for this year just yet (10-12) but it's an optimistic 10-12 now. Cunnington's suspension and Wood's injury has entrenched my concern about the murders row of games to start the season. Could be 0-4 and out of finals.. damn you Afl fixture.

Just had lunch with my * supporting brother and he said that North now have a midfield that appears to run two ways. Asked who the hell are Preuss, Mountford, Vickers-Willis and Durdin. I replied that they have been stewing in the seconds. He said that he totally underestimated North this year on the basis of the talent he saw. I replied with Lol*

Well you see, at Essendon, the seconds are the firsts. You can see how he got confused.

Only his last year as an overage player, he was injured the year before. I don't think he is an amazing kick, but he is better than what he showed on the weekend. But at least he found a lot of the ball and played pretty well. I think it was more nerves and feeling rushed than any problem with his kicking style.

It is early days, however, we seem to have made no inroads in the skill department. We look very sloppy, waste a lot of chances and miss a ridiculous number of set shots from pretty much dead in front. We work so hard to get the hard ball but we just give it to the opposition far too easily.

In fairness it was a windy day, and you obviously don't get those sorts of conditions at the proper grounds. Agreed that it's an ongoing concern for us though.

I am pleased to see a young player who can get 25 possessions in a match- we haven't had enough of those. I presume his disposal will improve as he gets used to the pressure of senior footy

Having watched the replay a couple of times it's great to see just how many scoring opportunities we created.

I know it's only the JLT thingo but I'm a believer in beginnings.

Lovely day at the footy.

Neg:

My biggest concern is that good bloke will murder dancing feet in the real season. You don't make a fool of a good bloke.

Wagner's rookie tape showed him to be a fumbler and little has changed. He tries hard and I hope he make it, however I'm concerned.

Pos:

the bac:k 6 look good.
the middle 6 look good.
the forward 6 look ok but will be good with Brown and Waite fit and firing.
the bench looks powerful and talented.

Please Scotts, pick the best 22 on form for Rd 1 and I will be delighted.
Jy has a date with a goal post, you think?

We still turn it over but at least there's some pressure on the opposition coming the other way.
Between Cunnington, Swallow and Ziebells lack of leg speed and spread and Boomer, Wells and Dals one way running - that dynamic on protecting a turnover was just abysmal looking back.

So many comedians here . Your life must be so boring when you have pick on peoples punctuation errors .

Oh really?

Ok well let's turn it up and ask on what planet you have been to have not known it's a sellout for the past month and that turning up at the gate was not an option.

I'd prefer sticking to punctuation problems.

Just sayin

Fair go Gaso. The last time we played at Arden Street, you could turn up and buy a ticket at the gate.
