As a neutral observer at the MCG this afternoon, I thought the Jobe Watson treatment, bordered on embarrassing. On one hand you had the Collingwood supporters booing Watson for admitting taking a substance that he thought was legal but may have illegal, and on the other hand you had the Essendon supporters cheering Watson for admitting taking something illegal, which he thought was legal. So basically, just like the Milne situation when playing Carlton, difference of opinion lies only on the allegiance of the team you support. Thoughts?

So you think Essendon supporters should sit there idly and let them boo their captain? The reason they started clapping him was because of the booing.

I actually thought that he shouldn't have been booed in the first instance. But that's only my opinion.

I think the cheering was just a response to the booing, as a sign of support. It was only when it was prolonged when he had a shot for goal.

It's just mob mentality stuff. People being naughty when they know there's no consequence. I was in an area with a fair mix of supporters, none of the Pies fans around there booed him. Just the partisan members areas.

I applaud Collingqwood fans for booing and think every club supporters should do the same. No different to what happened to Carlton after cheating the salary cap and looks at the moment to be far worse and far greater in significance too. Jobe is shot like Essendon and Hird if asada confirms aod9064 is banned like many think it already to be.

His the only sports player I can currently think of that has come out on TV and said he has taken a ban substance and is still playing

Always respected and admired Jobe but what do u expect nobody has ever supported a drug cheat

I thought Collingwood Booing Watson represented a stand against cheating.

I personally thought good on Collingwood for encouraging a clean culture.

God Bless Nathan Buckley and in the end Collingwood won, so it pays to keep it clean.

fair enough too. Its pointless having Essendon take part each round this year TBH. If ever the word "tainted" were to apply to a premiership, it would be to the Bombers if they won it in 2013.

Whats more interesting - did Zaha get some cheers?

I love how everyone is acting like ALL Essendon supporters have made a statement that all booing is wrong because of one game. We get it, some Essendon supporters will boo/cheer players. Also some Essendon supporters believe it was wrong for Watson to have been booed because of the admission he made. Others disagree. At the end of the day nothing will stop crowds from booing or cheering whoever they want.

Personally I didn't care that Collingwood were booing Jobe but I thought it was good support from Essendon members to cheer him. I also didn't care that Essendon supporters were booing O'brien. Its all part of the game.

It will become tedious if we have a thread on this every week though because its going to keep on happening every game.

So it's ok to boo Ballantyne, Milne and Harry O because you don't like them, but if you boo someone who has admitted to taking a banned substance it's embarrassing? Stupid logic.

I love you both. Come and give me a cuddle.
