Travel Jobs that encourage/allow/rely on travel?

There is a difference between jobs that require significant travel and those which allow you to work overseas, I'd argue that jobs with significant travel are very overrated (unless you're single).

In terms of jobs which allow you to work overseas, it's hard to go past the humble chartered accountant for the range of options and decent living abroad.

I've been paid to travel for most of my working life, which suited my nature as a drifter. I worked in major EPC projects/exploration/JV's etc in oil and gas (law and engineering - now retired) for various companies for over 30 years, working and living in 10 foreign countries as a resident, getting into the local culture and language (I pick up languages fairly easily, at street/social level) and I enjoyed it.

But I also had to do a lot of long-haul international flights, which I increasingly disliked, even in First and Business, and which in the end prompted me to retire early. I had had enough of planes, airports and jetlag. And, tbh, enough of living in foreign countries.

Plenty of work Stateside, now with Trump opening up the oilfields, for major project lawyers/engineers with experience.

Where have you lived?

Business Development jobs will allow you to travel while working. A friend of mine does PDR (paintless dent removal) work and pretty much just chases hail storms, particularly in Europe. He is down there a lot during Australian winter.

The US Military.

Just know, failing empires offer challenging working conditions.

Still the BBQ Meat Ball MRE is nice.

I currently play a couple forms of poker which allows me to travel from place to place. Currently in Western Europe after just travelling to Paris for a week. Took a lot of time and effort to get to this point though.
Online consulting and a lot of marketing jobs would also allow you to be based off site, have a couple friends who do that and travel a lot.

As a resident - Kuwait, Libya, Abu Dhabi/UAE, Qatar, Casablanca, London, Tokyo, Seoul, Yokohama, Frankfurt, Perth. Plus some short-term assignments in other places in Europe [Netherlands and Germany] and central Asia. Based out of Houston TX.

How did you find living in the Middle East?

I was based in Arabic-speaking countries in the M/E and North Africa for an aggregate of 14 years.
Re the M/E - I taught myself Arabic at street level so I could get by locally, and acculturated myself to the local mindset in a positive way - which approach I found useful in doing business in all foreign countries.

Quick answer - Liked the people, not the culture.

I felt comfortable living in the Arab world, liked the Gulf Arab sense of humor, conservative family values, hospitable nature of the native inhabitants. Did not admire the religious overtones and rentier mindset - very different from Libya, pre-Ghaddafi murder.

Event management.

We fly interstate regularly and OS occasionally for the conferences we organise. A lot less glamorous than you'd think! Mainly just tiring, despite the free flights, food and accom!

i work as a camera operator during the Australian Cricket season and basically get flown all around Australia during the Summer, I've just turned 27 so its great for me but man it probably isn't a great gig for a family man or someone who doesn't like living out of a suitcase.
