Joel Selwood’s segment on concussion in footy

Probbly because Clarko said Joel has had 20 concussion due to ducking , and Scott corrected your angry delusional midget ******* coach by pointing out that he had has 3 in his career and all non “ducking”related

But nah whatever suits your narrative

Funny... i guess you are intentionally getting the facts wrong.

Concussion continues to be one of footy’s biggest issues following a spate of retirements due to concussion issues including Heretier Lumumba, Brisbane’s Justin Clarke, Jonathan Brown and Matt Maguire.

It becomes quite a long process but one where you can see (whether) a player becomes anxious or is not able to participate any further in the game because it is a bit of a grilling that they’re giving you,”. The league is working closely with the Florey Institute and with former and current players to improve their understanding of concussion-related problems.

Do you think Joel has been impacted by the amount of concussions he has sustained?
WTF?

Really? His had very few concussions from what i can remember

*very few publically diagnosed concussions

Big difference there given the overwhelming under reporting of concussions even in the AFL (which imo is one of the best sporting organisations in the world when it comes to this sort of thing)

Clarkson made comments earlier in the year about Joel Selwood getting hit regularly. He got attacked by a defensive Chris Scott.

Then Joel Selwood agrees to a segment on the Footy Show showing highlights of his best hits, most stitches, and it is celebrated.

Something hypocritical there... not sure exactly what, but it is more than just Clarkson speaking out of turn.
Clarko was implying that Selwood's patented tactic of leading with his head to get free kicks was something worth further investigation with regard to the significant increase in concussion-related injury. Of course Chris Scott got caught up in semantics, and completely ignored the overarching issue of concussion increases in the game.

The issue is worth investigating - players en masse, seeing how much Selwood has been rewarded for 12 years with this tactic, now instinctively lead with their head as the reward of a free kick is almost always there. In 2006 and prior era pre-Selwood, players simply did not lead with their head and actually had instinctive mechanisms in place to protect themselves while going for the ball.

The AFL has failed in their management of the game specific to this issue. They effectively enabled this tactic to flourish to now epidemic proportions when they should have clamped down on it after Selwood's first season in the game. Quite simply leading with your head cannot be helpful to the concussion problem.

the vast majority of Selwoods high frees does not come from leading with his head (if any)

Would be a good post if Selwood 'lead with his head' at all.

A player in the Hawks v Carlton game on the weekend dropped his head and headbutted a player in the back. it was called a free kick for too high... lol

Light hits to the head due to raising elbow/ducking whatever you want to call it, isn't going to cause brain damage. Silly and tasteless thread but that seems like the standard for bigfooty.

Concussion is a regular occurrence in Army Vets who have no contact and only the shockwave from heavy weaponry. You'd be surprised how little it takes to cause concussion problems in the brain - death by a thousand cuts in Selwood's case.

It will be more likely how much damage Selwood has received rather rhan if. And there will be many many more. Class actions will grow.

Either way, he's right. And a Geelong supporter calling Clarko angry and delusional when they've got a maniac like Chris Scott at the helm. Delicious irony. "Mission Accomplished" anyone? :)
