About 6 or so weeks ago I had a thread as I thought that Joel Selwood was rather slow and the head knocks were causing some issues with his cognition and speech. When he started he sounded lost and like he was slurring words and it seemed a little concerning because from my memory (Not as a Cats supporter) he seemed to be so much more articulate a few years ago in his playing days. Cats supporters all jumped in and said "No that is how he has always spoken and being on the call has only highlighted his problems". I will be honest and say I hated listening to him as much as Jobe Watson on the call.
Now, this brings me to Thursday night and the Adelaide vs Richmond call of the game. Holy balls Batman, what a turn around. I potted the bloke and wrote him off as another reason to mute the commentary, but he has turned 180 so fast I have Whiplash. He was insightful but didn't waffle. He said what he needed to say as simply as he could and then shut up. No Jobe Watson rants where he starts a point, gets lost half way through then finishes a different point according to the play that just occurred as he rambled (seriously my impression of Jobe would be "The Cats here are really rock solid in their defensive 50 and that means that when they get the ball they can rebound with speed and precision but......Tom stewart being a great mark down there is helping and in the end..........I think that is why Brisbane will be the premiers")
He won't ever see this but he made me look like a right mug with his improvement. The sad reality is though that he will be in the minority of people who will actually try and improve their craft. Jobe will still get lost on his weird esoteric talking points and Cotchin will still look like a 2x4 with lego hair when he presents and Daisy Peirce will still be Captain Obvious.
