Thank goodness for that. Probably the worst international umpire I've ever seen.

Absolutely staggered that Gough is gone! Really rate him as an umpire so it surely can't be due to poor accuracy. Big loss.

Of the current recent group Wilson is easily the worst but he’s miles off the worst even from this century.

Some of the randoms that would get pulled out of obscurity before the neutral umpire rule were just abysmal.

I think I’m correct in saying that one of them was even celebrating with the Indians at the conclusion of the 2001 series.

There’s also a reel on Facebook that pops up from time to time of an England series in Sri Lanka that features some of the worst umpiring you could ever imagine. Murali didn’t the one benefiting - it’s the likes of Jayasuriya coming left arm over into the rough outside leg stump getting LBW’s. You need to see it to believe it

Michael Gough must have pissed somebody at the ICC off or something. I was expecting he and Richard Kettleborough would get the WTC final. I might be half right but not totally right now. The decision to axe Gough is baffling at best. We should be above conspiracy theories but did he upset India recently or something? He's arguably the best in the world and they've axed him.

I'm also surprised about Gough. But h does have a track record of walking away if he's not enjoying something. I suspect probably his decision.

I take it you never saw Bucknor umpire. His Labrador was even worse than Wilson's

I believe that would be this one. It's so bad you just start laughing.

There’s no doubt he’s a rubbish umpire but the carry on about the report has been laughable.

Heaps of people, including Aussie fans in this forum, mentioned that at times his action looked a bit suspect. They have a reason to at least have it analysed, he did that, he passed, so what’s the problem? Some of the overreaction in the media has been at the victimised level that we have not seen since the race-card days.

As mentioned above, anyone with eyes could see it was worth having a look at, at the very least.

And it wasn't close, much like most of his decisions, he was putrid! Hopefully this means no Joel the Blind Labrador. Give him to the IPL no one cares there

Read the specifics of the report, did you?

It wasn’t putrid, mate. As I said, anyone watching could see it was, at times, questionable. Him being a poor umpire, and still being able to make a rational, acceptable decision, aren’t mutually exclusive.

He passed, did what he had to do. The playing of the victim as though he was targeted or something sounds pathetic.

If it took that to sack the bloke lets just be thankful! Kuhermann deserves a medal for helping sack the blind fool. Dead set and he screwed us every single test, there needed to be a rule, you have 3 reviews and every decision by Joel gets automatically reviewed.

I very much doubt he was sacked on that basis. If he was, half the umpires of the last 25 years would be sacked. I would imagine it was more likely based on the amount of poor decisions he made.

In fact one fellow current umpire himself was reported but not called, and had to do work on his action. Maybe he shouldn’t have been given his accreditation seeing as he himself couldn’t get his action quite right for a little while hey?

He’s screwed every team he’s ever umpired mate. That’s what shit umpires do.

I believe it because I've seen it!
