What do we think?

He is out of contract at the end of this season, he is a Victorian boy playing for the worst club in the league currently and he hasn't been getting much game time at all (with a couple of injury set backs this season).

Should we look to make a play for him? A first round draft pick and a Scully compo for example (if Scully goes).

He's young, talented and it adds some definite depth to our KPF stocks.

Ive had this thought myself, dont think we could offer any players, as who the **** would want to go to adelaide
But yeah, would the power want the fixed mid round pick and our 1st rounder for butcher? Spose they dont have a choice if he wants out..

Problem is Butcher cant kick

you guys are insane, hes not worth a first rounder, NO THANKS.
 
Butch has had some back issues that have restricted his development. As noted above he is also some what unreliable infront of the big sticks.

I was very keen on him back in 2009 and still am, but he's not worth 2 first round selections. Unless he wants out then his worth is is far to great Port.
 
would be keen obviously, but what do we have to trade for him? Bate? Newton? Warnock? his kicking for goal is the only knock on him, having watched his highlights last night on Footy Classified I was mighty impressed.

WTF? he would barley be worth one first round selection...... is unreliable in front of goals etc, is worth a thought but it would be detrimental to the development of Cook imo (who im a huge fan if people hadnt noticed).

Why trade good picks when we have a similar/better player on our list atm who can be developed

maybe for a mid first rounder but unless he was willing to walk then i doubt port would by in

Theres no way port would only accept one first round pick, we may as well trade aggresively if we want him...
People should stop hanging there hats on Cook being a star, just cuz we took him doesnt mean he will 100% make it
 
He's a confidence kick, he played brilliantly as an underage in 08.

The two first rounders was purely if he wouldn't want to leave the club.

If he wants to leave, then one first rounder should do the trick.

EDIT - by wouldn't want to I mean 'not actively looking to'.
 
Warnock is an interesting thought, he is no doubt desperate to get some senior football and Port will need a key defender.

I hear from a very reliable source that Carlile is looking at a move, preferably to Victoria but not discounting GWS.

The same john butcher who was considered a monty with tom scully to be taken by melbourne 6 months before the draft, before his injury history ment he slid to 8/9

there not going to give port a first rounder full stop, despite what some of you so called experts think, those picks are golden, the guys been injury riddled since 08 and played 1 senior game, yeah lets throw the kitchen sink at him.:rolleyes:
