John Kennedy Sr after the game.

Yeah, there was a nice moment there where he gave JPK a massive hug. He stayed away in the initial celebrations, which is fair enough, because it was a Swans thing, he is a Hawthorn man, he probably felt like he wouldn't belong, and he had commiserations to offer his own club, but once it was less manic he went over. Looked proud but devastated at the same time.

He was thinking for a long time instead of doing.
Are you suggesting a grandfather would have been annoyed at his grandson for winning a game? It is a game. Unless Kennedy is insane, he would of course be proud of his Grandson. Anyway, the Hawks didn't want Kennedy enough so it is not like Grandpa could hold it against him. Nobody who loved their family would doubt the love these two men would feel for each other.

No, he's not suggesting that. He referencing the famous John Kennedy Sr. quote "don't think — DO!"

The reaction from Joey's dad was in stark contrast to 'Kanga'.

I think John Kennedy Snr. would have been more sour on Hawthorn today and adding injury to insult, his grandson was a major factor in that.

The Hawks have been very good traders, but how often do you make a trade that directly costs you a flag. Add the non-trade of ROK as well.
Stratton's pick was part of that trade. He made a game saving tackle last week but I was not happy we traded Kennedy but its worked out for him. He wasn't going to start in our midfield (when the trade happened) and he could at Sydney.

Loled.

Kennedy Sr definitely look more sad about Hawthorn than he was happy for Josh. Josh had to seek him out for that "tender moment". I heard Sr on the SEN radio during the week and he was very clear in saying he was a Hawks man through and through and that he would never hope they would lose - even for family. He said he had no plans to speak with Josh or wish him well during the week. He said he hopes Josh has a good game and that the Hawks win. I guess blood isn't thicker than water...

Funny listening to ABC on the drive home they were talking to Kennedy and saying his dad had said he was hoping Josh would feel the same joy he did as a premiership winner but was also hoping the Hawks could win the flag. Josh then asked if they were his exact words and the ABC dude was doing a massive backpedal saying "oh as I recall it he said blah blah".

Tough for Kennedy Snr. He was on the ground in the capacity of Hawthorn representative, as Bob Skilton was for Sydney.

I think it would've been tough for Josh Kennedy too. His family is a big part of the Hawthorn heritage. Grand dad's blood isn't red, it's brown and gold. He would've grown up running around the joint and dreaming of winning premierships with Hawthorn, not against them.

Just heard a replay of the interview on Grandstand and I thought that whilst there was nothing malicious with the journo's questions, he was certainly embellishing on what JK Snr said. Yeah was a back peddle.

Good on Josh for continuing to question the journo on the EXACT words Snr said. He wouldn't accept blindly what the journo was saying and key pushing back.

Massive respect for the way Josh plays and gone up another notch now showing he won't just blindly be intimidated by the press.

Oh and Josh did say that Snr was in the rooms after the game and that he was happy for him. They're a very close family but obviously our experts here on BF can now read minds and body language.

I believe it was during the huddle with the cup, because i think JPK is missing from a few of the photos i've seen. lol

Yup, around that time. It was a few bays over from me and I saw him hug Josh and ruffle his hair before Josh went back to the team.
