I've been saying stuff along these lines for years.
He's clearly an absolutely excellent leader. That can't be questioned. His best football is Careyesque. At his best he's a matchwinner and can absolutely dominate.
However, I don't think he dominates nearly as much as the hype surrounding him would suggest. He isn't consistently dominant, bar the year he won the Coleman, where he was an absolute beast.
If you asked most people they'd tell you he was the best CHF this decade, despite 1 AA guernsey in the position. Tredrea before his knee injuries, Pavlich and Riewoldt all beat him IMO.
The hype around him has probably died down to fair levels these days (I think Buddy has hogged pretty well all the gorilla forward hype), but a few years ago he was widely considered the best forward in the competition bar none, which was overrating him IMO.
