This is Lewis' second year and he had a very solid debut season, one that was more impressive than anything Watson has done to date.

Whilst Lewis was very impressive in his debut year, it wasn't better or more impressive "than anything Watson has done to date."

Jobe is third in the comp for disposals and would be leading our B&F. Lewis wasn't near that standard.

Interesting to note that Jobe is only 10 months older than Lewis, Lewis has also played more games of senior footy.

no u fool, i never said that they are the top ten players in the comp, what i meant is exactly what i said, look at that bunch of players and aside maybe dane swan, jordan lewis is a long way off.
That post makes little sense. You say "Jordan Lewis is a long way off that list, aside maybe Dane Swan...".
So if Lewis is not that far off Dane Swan, who is on the list, then what exactly is the point you are trying to make?

That's a cop out statement. It's not Jordan's fault that Watson wasn't good enough to play senior football until this year.

Watson has also had an extra two years in the system. A second year player compared to a fourth year player is a huge difference in terms of development, regardless of age.

Lewis' year hasn't been as good as Watson's that's pretty clear, but Lewis has played 26 out of a possible 29 matches since being drafted, has never been dropped, and despite his relatively below par season is still averaging 19 touches a game. Compare Lewis' first year and a half of football to Watson's and it's clear who comes out on top in terms of long term potential.

Lewis is a genuine blue chip prospect. Despite his great year to date Watson isn't and never was.

Id still rather dane swan than jordan lewis at the moment, but my point was that swan is a bit of a surprise packet, i dont think anyone expected him to be playing as well as he is or expected him to be on the top ten disposals list. exclude swan from that list because of his purple patch then youve got 9 players who jordan lewis is a long way off.

watson >>> lewis

this kid doesn't only get the ball he gets his hands on the ball first. he can read it better than anyone else atm.

Right now this is jobe in top 10's:

Ranked 3rd in Total Disposals
Ranked 1st in Total Handballs
Ranked 1st in Total First Possessions
Ranked 4th in Total Contested Possessions
Ranked 7th in Total Uncontested Possessions
Ranked 4th in Disposals Per Game
Ranked 1st in Handballs Per Game
Ranked 1st in First Possessions Per Game
Ranked 4th in Contested Possessions Per Game
Ranked 8th in Uncontested Possessions Per Game

Lewis:

Ranked 5th in Total Frees Against
Ranked 10th in Frees Against Per Game

Now don't get me wrong, you can use the argument that simply because you feature in the top 10 for any reason it doesn't mean your better than other players. Having said that though when you look at the top 10 you see guys like scott west and adam simpson. one a notorious handballer and the other has poor disposal. despite this, they are great players. i fail to see how lewis is any better. hes been given more opporutnity and jobe comes out on top in all departments despite his poor disposal (occassionaly) and continual handballing.

Jobe by a county mile.

Well said.

Jobe is also a very good size, 190cm+. Tall midfeilder.

Jobe for me.

Jobe has been one of the only positives in our season so far... and his field kicking isnt as bad as people suggest it is its more his kicking for goal. That pass to Lucas on the weekend was brilliant.

I don't know how Dane Swan is any more of a suprise packet than Jobe Watson. Both massive suprise packets for top 10 disposals. Both having purple patch. Happy to admit that Jobe is killing it for ess so far this season, i hope he can continue it.

swan was always a midfielder type.
for some reason essendon thought jobe would be better as a kpp. hes since lost some kilos. the role change leaves me more inclined to see jobe as less of a "surprise packet" than swan. having said that its good to see both are tearing it up atm. ive always liked swan with his occassional game with huge stats... but then again i liked julian rowe too.

I may be saying this as a biast opinion but i do think Jobe would be better on todays CURRENT list.. I'm not saying JL will be a bad player but at the moment, he is playing in a team with a fairly decent midfeild, where as the dons are struggling but Jobe is doing well.
Jobe can find the ball well, and he is still young and once his kicking comes, he will be a fantastic player.
Jordan Lewis cant find the ball as well as Jobe. Jobe has the footy smarts about him, where Jordan is still coming.

If Jobe is better than Lewis next year can I bump this too?

So Jobe's going to learn how to kick, run and impose himself physically on a match all in the next twelve months? Ok...

Either way, miss the point much?

The initial post was comparing a 2nd year player to a 4th year player. Lewis has always been the better talent, it was just a matter of time before he became a star. Watson has limitations that he'll simply never overcome. Pretty simple equation now that Lewis has been released into the midfield full time.

now Lewis is a star???? get your hand off it.

Even dumb arse Bummers supporters know

Lewis >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Watson.

The gap is getting wider by the day as well .

Whether you like it or not, Lewis is a star. Would be on the short list for AA guernsey already this year and is probably sitting top 2 in our B&F as I type.
Third year player producing the goods consistently. :thumbsu:
