How do people rate this guy and how do they see his potential panning out?

Last time the Africans toured that Crazy Q guy warned us about him and Steyn and they've both shown something in Australia.

Some are comparing him to Lara. Others are saying he was always incredibly special and one ex-SA player said he is the most special young talent he's ever seen coming through their system. He's a very good fieldsman as well as being promising with the bat and he can spin the ball, more than the other SA spinners, which probably isn't saying much.

Will he live up to expectations?

Have also been impressed with Amla. Some of the commentators think he's the best off-side player who's come to this country in years.

He is the most promising young player I can remember seeing. He has just looked to me like another little master they don’t look like getting him out at any stage. It will be interesting in a couple of years to see where he is at and if he has a weakness because at this stage it doesn’t appear so he has come out under pressure and piled on the runs he has batted for a long periods of time when needed and so far in the 2 twenty20 games he has come out and shown he can play just about every shot in the book and a few that aren’t whilst scoring at a good rate.

He is a gun. Hes only 24 and will keep improving. Hes shown excellent experience under pressure with the ability to score runs quickly or the ability to bat with the tail. Calm and collected.

The way he struts, he reminds me a little bit of Keith Arthurton. Easy to forget that Arthurton was also a prodigiously talent youngster, who could also bowl pretty handy offspinners and was a lightning fieldsman.

I suspect Duminy will ultimately prove he deserve to strut a bit, unlike Arthurton who crashed and burned.

We will be well and truly sick of bowling at him by the end of his career.

Simple technique. Outstanding combination of concentration, toughness and flair. Sound against pace and spin.

Add composure to that list of attributes... which he's displayed in buckets all summer in all forms of the game.

Be interesting to see where he ends up in the order.

The reason de Villiers now bats in the middle order is because he shown in his time at the top of the order that he is weak against the new ball. Can't see them moving him to 3. Duminy on the other hand looks to have a fantastic technique and temperament and in my view would be ideally suited to the role should Amla replace McKenzie as an opener.

Duminy needs to stay down the order in tests for a while. 5/6 will do for a while. Then see how he is going and whether he'll adapt well to a 3 or 4 position.

Was reading the Herald Sun today and in the article it said that he was living the good life and had gone a bit off track much like his hero Herschelle Gibbs. And Kirsten gave him a dressing down and said something like "You have more talent in your little finger than I have in my whole body." I found it interesting because he comes across as a little shy, but it seems to have worked wonders.

i rate duminy very highly i think he is a fantastic young player he can bat very well but also he is a great fielder like we saw in the twenty20 match he also is a good part time bowler. i really hope duminy's form continues because he is very exciting to watch, he just looks so confident even in the pressure situations(perth test,in the 90's before his century)

I doubt he'll sustain that form but let's not forget he went into test cricket with a first class batting average above fifty and huge wraps. None of his teammates wanted to forfeit their place because they suspected that once he was in the team he'd be impossible to remove. He won't always be this prolific but he clearly has talent and temperament.

My new favourite player. Just a gun. Watched the Perth test and thought he was destined for a big innings soon. Then Melbourne came. Looks to be the goods.

Best batsman i've seen since Greg Chappell.
