So the bombers have come up with some clash jumpers, but they've made a comment that they may not actually wear it against Melbourne, they're going to offer a deal so Melbourne will wear our clash jumper even if it's our home game.

Interesting thought, I'm actually warming to the idea for obvious reasons.
So, what would be a fair price for Melbourne to accept the offer?

they have said that they have produced one and will prob never wear it.

what happens if Melbourne and St Kilda say no we are going to stick with our jumper bad luck. What will they do then ???

As long as one team changes their jumper for this game, that's a good thing. Or how about this solution:

For an Essendon home game, the Dons narrow their red sash (just like their heritage jumper) and Melbourne enlarge their red yoke.

For a Melbourne home game, the Dons widen their red sash (not quite as wide as their proposed 'clash' jumper) and Melbourne "shrink" their red yoke, maybe a thin red V and collar.

I can tell the difference by the design. Those who can't should find a new line of work.

I thought the AFL said we have a clash with Melbourne and Richmond. Hadn't heard anything about St Kilda until last night.

Essendon and Richmond have joined forces and have told the AFL there is no clash. It seems the AFL have/will back down on that one.

When the AFL presented each club with the away games they'd need a "clash" jumper for, they told Essendon there were three: Melbourne, Richmond and St Kilda.

I don't follow your logic about the AFL backing down because Richmond have joined forces with you. Is that the Eddie Gambit of trying to force AFL policy through media releases. Neither Richmond, nor Essendon make the rules. The AFL do.

I'm aware of that, I thought it was only Richmond and Melbourne though. I've gone back and read the original statement.

It's not my logic. It's what has happened.
There has already been progress made, no media releases.

And as i keep saying no one owns the TM and copyright for the kits except the AFL. Not the clubs, not the fans. But the afl. So at the edn of the day the AFL can do what it god dam pleases with their jumpers which they own. Simple really.

The AFL has given the clubs a chance to redesign a clash strip, but in the end clubs like collingwood and essendon will be punished by having a firm outside the club redesign the jumper.

They can bar the jumpers and not wear them but that will mean the AFL will impose a fine and lets hope its akin to 100k.

Stop being so stubborn and embrace such a small change you knucklehead victorians!

Perhaps Melbourne could wear their traditional jumper from yesteryear, with the royal blue as opposed to the dark navy which is partly to blame - same also applies against carlton.

Royal blue wasn't our 'traditional' backing colour, only was introduced because of Colour TV.

crap colour...

That was a terrible jumper, bloody black & white tv

We have every right to tell them to go and shove their money where the sun don't shine.

Ask for a $1,000,000... go on, lets see how much the jumper really means to them. We all know it's small change for them.

You have every right...
Too bad you need it so much. Which would you rather? Play a home game in Brisbane or wear a different shirt for a game. You have sold out already why not take our money

We sold the Brisbane game when we had our backs to the wall. We're doing ok at the moment thanks.

I think Essendon are as desperate as we are, but for different things.
They want to stick it up to the AFL and keep their jumper, and I would hope we milk them for all they're worth.

Our away strip is excellent imo, and we always play well when we're wearing it. And unlike Essendon, we're comfortable enough with our identity and our great history, that we have no insecurities about wearing a slightly different design. It doesn't make us any less Melbourne.

Argument is moot anway. Paul Gardner has said in the press this morning that we will not be selling the right to wear our home jumper, and oh by the way the clash jumper clashes more than your standard one.

Is going to be interesting to see how the AFL handle these situations.
