Last season it was the board who decided on the #3.

The process for allocating player numbers at the Western Bulldogs is:

a) Prior to the draft all players are asked if they would like a vacant number.

b) Those players traded to the club get the next choice.

c) Draftees then chose a number & select according to draft order, ie Grant gets first crack, then Ward etc...

d) PSD selections then choose a number.

e) Rookies basically get what's left.

Give Ayce his dad's no. (49) if he wants it. If he wants to make a number his own then 11 (if Steety's gone) wouldn't look too bad on his slight frame.

I agree Higgins is making his own destiny for the #19, much the same way Cooney has for #17, Libba for #39, Sutton #6, Wynd for #15, Templeton #31, Royal #33, Smith #5, Foster #32, Beasley #18, Dempsey #24, Hobbs & Quinlan #2, Whitten #3 etc.

I was thinking that Cordy and 11 fit together well, something about 11 and tall people just goes well (sticks), although Ayce & 1 does have a ring to it.

Why would you want to get Ward out of 14? Straight from Darcy....
I agree Higgins has made 19 his own.

If anyone gets the 7, I would imagine that Addison would be worthy....not sure if they will do anything with it this year though....

No disrespect in giving 14 to Ayce Cordy. I would hope that Luke takes him under his wing and helps him become as good a player as he was. We could only hope for this to occur.

Ward being a local boy (a tough midfielder) and getting number 7 has a good feel to it. It also will not hurt him to have his locker next to Johnson. Let's hope Johnson's leadership skills rub off on him.

I met Ayce on the Monday he was picked up by us and he said he'd like to wear his Dad's 49. He wore that number for the Geelong Falcons.
